Hi girls,
I'm a long time stalker (and some time contributor) of this forum, but seeing that my DH and I have now been trying for over 1 year, I'm officially moving over from TTC#1. And I immediately have questions :)

A bit about my situation: I have been diagnosed with unexplained infertility. I'm 33, DH 37, both healthy, with no reason as to why we should not be pregnant by now. I have undergone cycle monitoring and my RE found that my estrogen is a bit low and my lining a bit thin. She put me on menopur for one cycle to thicken up the lining. Unfortunately, i ovulated after 5 days of menopur (d10), too soon for my lining to get any thicker and i did not get pregnant :( Now she's planning for a different protocol and IUI (we;ve been doing timed intercourse).

As I will be away for the next few weeks, we are taking a break from medicated TTC. So, this month we trying naturally and I am trying to do a few things naturally:

- Increase estrogen and lining thickness: I am a bit on the thin side, so I'm trying to eat better, on my REs advice - taking fish oil supplements, eating more protein and fat, etc... Any other suggestions?

- Work on my CM: I don;t get a whole lot of EWCM (related to low estrogen, I guess). My RE thinks it could also be somehow hostile to DH's sperm. I'm not too sure what to do about this - has anyone used robitussin to increase mucous and do you know if this would help with it being "hostile" (whatever that means)? What about pre-seed?

You don't see too many posts on thin lining or hostile mucous, but I know I can't be the only one out there with these problems. I would really appreciate to hear from other people in similar situation, even if you don't have any advice to offer. It helps to know someone else is going through it :)

Baby dust to all!
:dust:

So, it seems I am the only one with this problem of thin lining after all?

Just an update in case anyone else is dealing with this - dietary changes did not help, my lining is still thin. So much for doing it naturally... on to injectables next month :)

First off welcome to the best part of Bnb! No, not really as this is an unfortunate place. :haha:

However, we try to make the best of IF and support each other!

As for the lining, I've no suggestions. There was only one other LTTCer on here that had lining problems, but I believe she followed her doctor's suggestions.

Now as for CM being too hostile, they meant your pH levels could be too high. But, they would need to do a test to confirm that theory. I'd ask them for one.

You can use Preseed to help with your lack of CM. But it may or may not help. From what I tried (and others) you can drink a lot more water and grapefruit juice to help with CM increase.

Also they can give you a bit more estrogen if your levels are too low. As you won't ovulate every month if your levels are off.

I'm glad I'm seeing this post as I feel like my doctor keeps adding things to the list.

I must be honest though...I'm at the point where I'm not exactly sure why I am taking what ---I'm just following doctor's orders. I CAN tell you what's been going on and what I'm taking though...

My right fallopian tube is blocked, I have thin lining, low progesterone, and irregular cycles (31-48 days). I am taking clomid (50 mg days 3-7), estradiol days 7- surge, and prometrium 3 days after surge until neg HPT. I think I am on the prometrium to help with my progesterone levels which should thicken my lining....hope I'm right - maybe someone else can chime in

I have a lining issue as well. I've used estradiol and it helped (only used it one month).

I've also been drinking pomegranate juice, I've been told this helps as well. My lining has been good since so I am not sure if its from the juice or not. Might be worth a try!

I'll be buying the juice today! Lol. Is there a brand you recommend?

Not sure if its the same in the US or not but I was buying the POMM brand. I would think that any pure juice would be just the same.
Good Luck!

thanks for your reply.
It makes sense to me that they gave you estrogen. I also have low estrogen but my RE refuses to acknowledge it. She says it's fine (tough it's consistently under 200). She is putting me on injectables instead. I'm a bit conflicted as to whether to just go ahead with what she recommends or to push for estrogen. I ovulate on my own, so I don't understand why I need gonadotropins or any other stimulation.

I am tempted to try pomm, but I'm already taking fish oil, drinking RRLT, taking prenatal vitamins, eating lots of protein and fat and I'm just skeptical that adding another food/drink/supplement will help me. I think I'm a bit beyond that and need real drugs :) I think I will try acupuncture next month, though. Anyone tried it yet?
