Firstly sorry it has taken so long we moved house the other week and our internet just got switched on yesterday. Well anyway it all started on Wednesday 18th April; started having period cramps irregular every 30mins. On Thursday afternoon these got more painful by early hours of friday and where every 8ish mins apart, so my hubbie took me to hospital, only 1cm though so I was sent home, contractions still stayed the same intensity and same pace all day friday so went back early hours of Saturday and I hadnt made much more progress, was given a jab of diamorphine which completely knocked me out for around 6 hours, couldnt keep my eyes open, I was sick loads!!! The worst part was it completely stopped the contractions! So I was sent home again Saturday afternoon and got a horrible doctor who said I could have contractions like this for 2 weeks and they wouldnt intervene! They didnt even check me again to see if I had dialated anymore. So hubbie and I went home crest fallen. Well I got home and they started again around 8oclock. Tried more paracetomol and that helped slightly got a few hours sleep but by 11 they were agony again, so had to wait til 12 to take my next two. IN the meantime I had a bath which didnt help much with the pain. Took the two tablets and still the pain was getting worse. Got my hubbie out of bed and we decided we would stay a while longer at home, in agony and they were every 4 minutes apart. Also felt like i need to do a number 2. SO we waited til around 2ish and called the hospital as they were definately 2-4 mins apart like they told us, the midwife told us to come in. We got there around 3 oclock and were told they were busy and we would have to be patient. We were told to go to the triage unit and were shown to a room with a hospital trolley etc. Well the midwife came in 30mins checked me and I was 9cm and my waters were bulging, she said as soon as my waters went my baby would be here! I asked for gas and air and she said ok and ran out the door. I kept feeling like i needed a no2 and kept asking hubbie to check i hadnt, I decided I need to stand and walk as it helped slightly, next thing my waters went. My hubbies face went white as a sheet and he ran out the door and couldnt find anyone, finally he found a doctor who came and confirmed my waters had gone and went and got the head midwife. She came a 4 oclock and I asked again for Gas and Air she went into a cupboard beside the bed and got the tube and plugged it in; I wanted to scream at that point as I could have had that 20mins previous but the midwife said she was leaving for one! So I was told at this point that labour and delivery was full!!! I would be having my baby in that room on the hospital trolley! So a nurse came in and helped out a bit until one of the oncall community midwifes who was helping out arrived. The gas and air was amazing! The last few pushes were painful! I screamed the house down and ended up bitting my hubbies hand. lol She was born at 4.31am on the 22nd April. She took to breastfeeding straight away! She was born at 39 week and weigh 6lb 1oz. She has since put on 3oz and is doing so well. I am lucky and only getting woken up twice during the night. Loving having my hubbie at home as he is just doing everything for me, and I can relax and enjoy our daughter. She is the most amazing gift in the world. In the postnatal ward I hardly got any rest as I was put beside the buzzing door, and you will not believe how many people keep popping there head in even when you shut your curtains; I had a photographer, bounty lady and they keep coming back!! Lucky they let me out the same day as I couldn't have stayed there any longer. They were busy that night to though and my midwife was called up stairs and I had to remind them I was being discharged as noone took over the responsibility of completing my discharge notes. Well she has been here 10days now and I dont know were they have gone! Wishing the rest of you well!xx
