Well I did it! Had my first 'period' type pain at 5am yesterday and things progressed quite rapidly from there. I sent dh to work at 7am but called him back by half 8 because I just had a feeling I was going to crack on. We got things ready, I pottered about using the TENS whilst dh filled the pool and we lit candles and used nice aromatherapies and got all our bits together. They were getting very strong very quickly but I didn't time them, I just used my hypnobirth techniques to just relax and breathe.

At 1pm I got the midwife out to me who said I was a good 5-6cms which was very quick for a first time mum (which I know too as I am a midwife!). I got in the pool and used a bit of gas and air and very quickly felt that the tightenings were so intense that I didn't know how much longer I could take... and then I just started pushing!

The feeling and urge to push was so overwhelming and I went with it but I really hated the sensation but was excited that I was nearly there! My waters broke and I could feel that baby was just inside. The feeling of baby moving out was incredible and awful at the same time! But I used all my techniques to move baby slowly and paused even with lots of his head out just to let my perineum stretch.

Then dh lifted baby out and our yellow bump turned blue! We were laughing and just couldn't believe it (we thought he was going to be a girl!) and we just stared at him and took it all in. He was a total water baby and was so chilled, just looking around. After half an hour we cut the cord and then I pushed my placenta out in the pool and then got out. I hardly bled at all and had no tears, I couldn't believe it! He fed for 2 hours and then slept, the midwife went home and then there we all were! He's so sweet!
