MS as initials...would it bother you?

We do have a family member who suffers from MS. I know it's maybe not even something others will pick up on. Would it bother you? Surname begins with S.

I have dated a MS and never put the two together until I saw the title of your post. I think all in all it will be fine. That being said since you have a family member suffering from MS you might want to check that they are ok with that as the initials, although they probably wouldn't realise to begin with either.

I think its just you over thinking it. Like pp said I doubt anyone would even realize. Plus, throw a middle initial in there and MS goes away.

any and every two words can shorten down to an abbreviation and you should only avoid initials if the spell something bad

I mean people call their children Amelia but I doubt they ask thalidomide survivors if its ok first and that's far more than just an abbreviation

My best friend is a MS though if you add her middle names its MMS I never thought about it that way till I saw your post to be honest!

There are FAR WORSE initials ur child could have. Just as an example...here are some of my co-workers initials (i work in a hospital inpatient pharmacy and we have to initial everything we make, fill out, or deliver...)

BV (bacterial vaginosis)
BM (bowel movement)
BS (bullsh*t)
TB (tuberculosis)
DD (its a girl with a large chest...so u can imagine lol)
KKK (no lie...her birth name was Kayla Kristine Mathers...then she married a man with the last name King....)
ASS (another girl who married into her initials lol)
STD (his parents didnt think first lol)

So believe me it could be worse.

Also, My last name starts with V...so I have to be careful with medical viruses. For instance...when I pregnant with my first, the girls name I picked were...

Hailey Isabel, Hailey Paige, Brianna Lee

INITIALS.... HIV....HPV....BLV (not too bad...but without the middle name...its just BV)

MS is innocent. I mean change it if ur that worried, but I work with 2 MS's and we dont give them hell for it at all lol.

My husband has ms and our last name begins with it s, of we liked a name beginning with m, we would use it although I'd avoid initials of "bm" lol my initials are bs

I read this thread and spent time wondering whether it would bother me... Then I realised my son's initials are MS! so clearly it didn't bother us at all lol. Micah has 2 middle names though so I never thought about the first and last initials on their own. Would you consider adding a middle name?

We will be having a middle name, but we've decided on a different name now anyway...Our little one will be Zachary if it's a boy. The other name in the running was Matthew, and the MS thing wasn't a factor in the end, we just preferred Zach
