Mucous when I wipe (22 Weeks)

Hi there

Sorry for the TMI question.

On a few occasions now, after going to the toilet (normally a #2 - and I'm a little constipated so I have to strain ) I have noticed what appears to be a lump of mucous when I wipe, coming from my vagina.

Could I be losing my mucous plug early? Should I get checked out? I have no pain/cramping or bleeding, and I am otherwise healthy. The amount is about the size of two fingernails, and it has happened probably two/three times over the past two weeks.

Advice would be great

Hello! What color is it and does it have an odor? I get clear or off white colored mucous randomly sometimes and especially when I strain trying to use the bathroom. I believe the mucous plug is brown or reddish in color. I'm a FTM so I'm just going off what my OB said because I asked about the mucous I had. It couldn't hurt to ask your doctor though to be safe.

Thank you! Yes, it's white/off white and doesn't smell. I had text my midwife and she said not to worry, thankfully!

It's good that you checked, but I know I have tons of discharge and if I strain it seems to push it all out at once. When I lost my mucus plug with last pregnancy it was very odd looking....nothing like discharge in my opinion, It was like yellow jelly or something like that...very thick and different looking.

Sounds like you're having normal discharge for how many weeks you are. I'm about 4 days behind you and I have discharge/mucus when I wipe. If MW says don't worry, I wouldn't

Sounds normal to me this is my second pregnancy and with both this and my first I have had lots of mucus clear/white colour having to wear a panty liner everyday as I am always feeling wet down there sorry tmi....I also get constipated and when I strain going to the loo I notice a lot all at once!

if it is mucus plug dnt worry hun it can regenerate. This is my 3rd preg nvr lost plug with other 2. Like u in last week or so ive lost 3 small blobs of snot like discharge (over 3days) mentioned 2mw last fri an she didnt say anything asked few questions. Am 22+5. Brown plug ehh dont think thts right blood streked yea but only timged this clour is plug but its not always bloddy i dnt think hence y ppl say jelly/snotlike and stretchy. I nvr had thick discharge with prev 2 but did feel wetter dwn bellow like pp said. Discharge increases further on we get, i was so wet last preg i thought leaking waters lol mw tstd came neg but she didnt get anything at time. I wouldnt worry hun.

You will have alllll sorts of discharge, clear, snot-like, white, creamy, etc. If it's tinged with blood then I'd call the OB/nurse/midwife just to check in and describe it, otherwise it's pretty normal (but never-the-less every new change and little thing can be off putting in pregnancy!)

Yeah, sounds normal. I have TONS of white/clear discharge with pregnancy. Unless it is a really off color or has any blood in it, I wouldn't worry.

Oh hell yeah. I'm 21 weeks and every time I wipe I get strings of the stuff. After a bowel movement or the day after sex is horrendous.

To me it seems pretty normal hun. I get white mucus all the time and sometimes in big globs.

I am not as far along as you ladies, but I have been having lots of extra CM too from day one. Especially when I use the toilet for #2. I think it's perfectly normal.
