Hi Ladies,

I am expecting baby number 2. My first lo was born by EMCS due to severe pre-eclampsia, I had a horrendous labour, where I laboured for more than 24 hours which then ended with the EMCS.

I have my first appointment with my consultant this Friday, and I am terrified to the point of being on the brink of tears most of the time that I am going to be rail roaded into a VBAC. And what makes it worse is that my Husband doesn't think he's going to be able to make it either :(

I was just wondering whether there were any ladies on here who had to have a EMCS due to Pre-eclampsia the first time, who have gone on to have a second? If so, how did it go when you had your consultant appointment? Did they feel you should try for a VBAC? ANY advice would be so much appreciated. Thankyou! :flower:

My experience with my first was very similar, my pre eclampsia developed into eclampsia and I ended up having an emcs. I actually wanted to have a vbac with my second, but was advised against it and ended up going for a second c-section (pre-e wasn't my only issue during delivery, the said my pelvis was too narrow, a problem that seems to run in my family). I had difficulty finding a doctor that would even agree to do a vbac without knowing my full medical history, so I would imagine you'd be okay as far as doing an elective c section. My second c sec was bliss compared to the first, super easy all around! :)

I had emcs the first and second time due to pree. The third time was a scheduled csection and I didn't get pree that time. just PIH.

Hi i have had pre eclamp 3 times my first son emerg csection 8 weeks prem 2 nd son 3 weeks prem pre eclamp and daughter 13 weeks prem pre eclamp all emerg csections i am now currently 13 weeks 3 days preg with my 4th being kept a close eye on due to the severity of it but found the doctors were great and they know what they are doing think this is going to be our last and hoping everything rund nice and smoothly this tine :) good luck to you all x

I didn't have pre-e, but my blood pressure was so incredibly high they had to induce. Ended up with EMCS after 32 hour labor. Had a transfusion. I'm pregnant with my second and before they realized I had a "special" uterine incision, they offered me the option of "going through it again" (that was her words) or asked if I would rather take the ELCS. I was told the first time I'd never have a choice, and I was so traumatized, that I immediately said I wanted the c-section.

Turns out, I had an inverted T incision, and I wouldn't have had the option to VBAC, anyway. He'll be delivered 3 weeks early via section. But they didn't know that at first and they never tried to talk me out of my decision.
