hi everyone,

I am at my wits end I just want to cry.

my son is 54 weeks and cant/wont eat anything lumpy. he gags, and then will bring it back up and is sick everywhere. he gets himself into a right state. he used to be such a great eater and now it just seems like as if we are going backwards with his weaning.

he is still mainly on purees because he cant seem to handle anything else. he also wont drink anything in the day, only his bottle of milk in the morning and evening. he wont even use any type of sippy cup/bottle in the day as he doesn't have a clue what to do with it. I feel that by now he should? even when I try to feed him with the sippy cup/bottle he just jams in mouth shut and refuses to drink. this tells me he knows what he is doing but I just can understand why he is doing it. he has been getting dehydrated recently as I can feel his soft spot very sunken, its only when he has his evening bottle that it goes back to normal. im worried sick.

I also feel that he should have progressed somewhere with his eating. im starting to get upset because I feel helpless and I feel that I am doing something wrong here.

has anybody got any advice?

thank you xx

My LO is the same... Won't really feed himself finger foods and gags on chunky stuff. Dr said it was normal for some... Hang in there :hugs:

My lo is 11 months and gags on solids as well. We have persisted with offering it to her and she is getting better. She drinks her formula fron het bottles often with a lot of fuss and drinks water from her sippy cup during the day. We started giving hr the cup around 8 months i think. I hope it gets better soon. I know i worrry about my lo not eating enough all the time!

Rylee has a difficult time eating bigger solids. Her baby puffs she eats no problem b/c they dissolve somewhat anyways, but if I give her anything bigger than my pinky nail she just spits it out, gags, etc. But now she's in that stage where she won't eat pureed food anymore, either. She just spits it out. She point blank refused to eat dinner tonight.

Mine is the same, glad that its not just me. He will eat solid snacks like toast and biscuits and baby corn snacks but if I give him a lumpy dinner he'll gag and spit out. Its very frustrating isn't it!!

The only lumpy thing I have tried which (sometimes) works is tiny pasta shells mixed with pureed veg (like a pasta sauce consistency or a bit thicker) I have managed to get him to tolerate that

Have you tried him with normal finger foods? Maybe skip the lumpy and go straight for proper food
