I have had some issues breastfeeding my LO and ave been pumping and feeding him EBM in a bottle - he would usually sleep well. For 2-3 hour stretches during the day and at night at least one stretch of 3-6 hrs.

Since he has gotten back on the breast successfully (yay!) and been feeding well, I have stopped giving him bottles of EBM. But, he now feeds 10-15 times during 24 hours and does not sleep long. This is becoming exhaustign for me at night as in the past 5 days he has not slept for more than 2-3 hours straight. It is beginning to also concern me that he isnt gettign enough rest? Seems like he is always on the boob or wants to play. I dont think its a growth spurt because we just had one a week ago. Is this normal?

I should mention I have been eating chocolate like crazy lately - just can't help myself. Maybe this is a contributing factor? I dont drink coffee, only decaf sometimes but no more than half a cup a day if that.

He is gaining weight (i have a scale at home), although slowly.

Of course my mom says "its because your milk is not enough to fill him up!"..

Firstly ignore your mother.
It sounds very much like a growth spurt. Also are you allowing him to pull himself off the breast or are you pulling him off? With EBM you can actually overfeed a baby which makes them want to sleep longer to burn off the excess.

Remember babies tummies are also growing all the time. If he is getting the right amount of wet nappies a day and doesn't seem too out of sorts, the everything should be fine. Weight gain, except on growth spurts, slows down around this time anyway

He is getting plenty of wet/dirty diapers and they are the normal color/consistency. Usually he lets ne know when he is done but sometimes i think we stop and dont resume before hes really full due to his burping issues.

^^I agree with the above. Your little one is just about 12 weeks, right? There is a major growth spurt then. Just keep feeding. 2-3 hours at a stretch is good! Are you noticing tired signs? Try and catch them and then put LO to sleep :)

Leopard has given great advice!

Welldone for getting LO back on the breast - that's no easy feat after bottle feeding hun you should be proud!

I am not sure if this will help you but getting milk from the breast is harder than getting milk from a teat - so it is possible that LO is not taking AS much before falling asleep which coupled with a growth spurt is probably why LO is feeding again so soon.

It will calm down just give it another week or so.

it possibly has coinicided with a growth spurt

I agree with it being normal and/or a growth spurt.

My DS fed every 1-2 hours around the clock until 14 weeks and then every 2-3 hours around the clock until 8 months. My DD fed every 2-3 hours around the clock for nearly the first year of her life. She still feeds every 1-3 hours all night long and she's 17 months.

At your LOs age, if he is doing any 2-3 hours stretches, I wouldn't call him a poor sleeper at all. I'd call it normal.
