Just thought I would share my birth story of my baby boy Alex Joseph Edward.
I was due on the 28th Jan, had my sweep at 9:30, didnt have no cramps whatsoever after, just some bloody discharge all weekend.
I woke at 3am on the 30th Jan with a mild pain, had a few more when they got a bit more painful I got up at 5 so I could give my OH a bit of sleep before work. After my mum, dad and OH had gone to work by half 6 I took a paracetomol for the pain and started to catch up on my soaps from the Friday night. By 7:30 the pain was much worse so I went in the bath, was in there for and hour and a half when the pain was every 5 minutes or so. I rang the OH to come home as the pain was unbearable I was crying on the phone. I rang the labour ward where they said I could go in and get checked or ring back in an hour.
OH and my mum took me in to get checked, this was just before 11am, I got checked and I was already 5-6 cm dilated. The midwife said that with the contractions he was turning back to back which is why the pain was so bad.
At around 12-12:30 i went to the toilet, my mum come with me and i said "argh i need a poo or i need to push" lol anyway i had a poop. Got back to the room, i felt the urge to actually push, so they got me on the bed and looked and said my waters were there, she was gonna pop them after 5minutes or so but then they had already gone.
A few more pushes later and at 13:10 my baby boy was here weighing 6lb 12.5 oz.
I was so shocked that he arrived so quick, just over 2 hours after arriving at the hospital. Good job i wasnt gonna wait til lunch time to call the labour ward.
Now he's 8 days old and is just absolutely perfect.
