My baby's 11 days old and mostly formula fed (some EBM during the day too). Tonight after the last 3 feeds she's been sick and brought back what looks like all her feed. Then straight away she asks for more food... she's been awake for hours and just won't settle. She's not particularly upset, she's not crying loads (but she won't sleep) but I don't want to keep feeding her if she's just going to bring it back up.

Any ideas?

Remember that a little bit of spilt liquid looks like loads .... just try tipping a tablespoon of water on the kitchen worksurface and you will see what I mean :)

It's doubtful that she is bringing up all of her feed, but my son was very much like this .... he would overeat, throw up and then want to feed again :dohh: I think it was probably because feeding was a comfort thing for him and so he just didn't know when to stop (I used to call him Baby Chuck Up ).

He still eats loads now (he's 17) and always has done ... he is tall and skinny but the food he can pack away is unreal - we now call him the fridge monster ;) - thankfully he no longer chucks up :haha:

You could try burping her after every ounce, or giving smaller feeds more often though :hugs:

ive been having the same problem at night time with harrison, he has his bottle then spits some of it back up, i asked the HV about it yesterday and said it could be that he doesnt realise he is full up and to try giving him a dummy to pacify him untill he realises he is full. all depends on how u feel about dummies i guess.

Reagan was doing that too! I did give her a dummy and kind of propped her up a bit so she was laying slightly sitting up (I guess reclined position lol) and it has helped keep her food down! Also if I can hold her upright after feeds for 20 minutes or so that seems to do a lot! good luck:)

I also recommend trying a pacifier. Gabriel would need to comfort suck all the time and so was getting too much milk and spending all day on the breast. Introducing the pacifier was one of the best things I've done so far. He also falls asleep better with the pacifier for naps and at night.

Thank you all. Last night feeding her sitting up and waiting a while before putting her down to sleep really helped. She won't take a dummy at all unfortunately.
