Ok so this is very long but hey. :)

So, I was 10 days over and had my induction booked since my due date. I had always been so excited to meet my son and time was dragging!
I went in for the induction on Saturday 26th May and they monitored me and baby for a while, checked me over (I was 0cm dilated :() and then gave me prostin gel. I had intense cramps all afternoon and this wasn't nice as I'd already had a headache for the past 3 days! I was given codeine and paracetemol to help with the pains, which killed my headache but not my 'prostin pains' as they called them. I was getting tightenings too but they couldn't examine me till it got to 7pm as I had to wait 6 hours. When she examined me I was STILL 0cm dilated and crying in pain and disappointment. So she gave me a meptid injection which is a very weak pethadine and some more prostin gel in my cervix but this time less than before as these pains had been bad. It was the end of the midwives shift and she said that if no progress happened to wait till the morning and the doctors would review me and see what steps to take next. I went to bed in tears, mum went home and OH was allowed to stop the night.
I couldnt sleep all night (OH slept like a baby next to me in the single hospital bed) :haha: and had more pain injections and pain relief but 4am came and after NO sleep at all I couldn't take the pain any more and buzzed for a midwife. She said she would check me over and see if I had dilated. To which I told her that there was no point as nothing would've happened!
She felt around and said my cervix was starting to dilate and then all of a sudden my legs went warm and she said 'that was your waters, you're 4cm dilated!' So I went for a little walk around the maternity ward and then bounced on the birthing ball until my contractions got regular so I could go round to labour ward once regular.
I was timing them for around 40 mins but kept losing count then all of a sudden had the worst pain and couldn't hold in a scream. The midwife came running and said 'right then, lets go up to labour and delivery!' This was 5:15 ish and I rang my mum and me and OH waited for her whilst I was on gas and air in the delivery suite. The contractions were intense and about 4-5 mins apart. When mum arrived I was woozy after the gas and air and couldn't see straight :haha: it was great. The contractions got so intense in the end I was demanding epidural but in the end just ended up with gas and air and then pethadine.

In the end my labour was 6 hours ish and then I was pushing for 33 minutes then Joshua William Humphreys was born at 10:13 am! I did one final push, which was the hardest because the midwife needed me to listen extra hard whilst pushing as it can be dangerous if the baby comes out too quick. I managed to listen and he arrived fine and they just put him on me as soon as he come out. OH cut the chord and him and mum weeped liked babies whilst I just stared at this little man in my arms. We took lots of pics and text lots of people etc whilst they stitched me up which took ageeeees and was a bit sore but I had the best pain relief in my arms, my son. :)

So it was a very painful proccess and I'm a bit put off having another one for a bit (I say this now and he's only a week old) but once everything got going for me it was very quick considering! xxx

Congratulations, my lo was born on Sunday aswell :) x

So my laptop wouldn't let me upload piccies before!
I know they're late :haha: Joshua is now 12 days old! But here's some piccies from the first 2 days of his life. x
