I have wrote this in my journal but not many people go there so here it is for you all who enjoy a nice birth story :)

At 8am Monday 22nd October I rushed to the loo with toilet roll between my legs, it felt like my waters had gone. When I got there i found loads of pinky mucus then stared having contractions. They weren't really regular (5-8 mins with a varying duration of 30-50 seconds) and they weren't nice!

I rung triage to let them know and they rung the on-call midwife who came out to assess. I was still 2cm dilated and stretchy and she wrote down cervix 1/2cm.

She left and the other midwife came back at 3.45. She brought a student. The student claimed the head was in and my BP was low (which i didn't believe as the band wasn't tight and it was let down too slow) and baby was ROP. They didn't check the cervix or anything. And off they went...

At teatime I was struggling, still coping but just. I managed to sort of eat it, took a while but managed. When I'd done I rung triage back and they sent yet another midwife. She came and examined me (my BP was fine!!!) and filled out her paperwork and to be honest I was left feeling very disheartened and crap.

She practically told me I needed to control my kids - my 2 year old struggled to settle for many reasons, he knew I was in pain, there was a house full not to mention strange people in and out all day etc... It was no wonder. As for my 11yo, well she was just a pain. She wouldn't (as per) do as i asked, stressed me out and all in was just her usual self. To be honest it was a nightmare but I didn't need no stranger, no outsider telling me what I should and shouldn't be doing.

When she examined me she told me I was only 4cm, cervix was high still 2cm and soft, but said not very stretchy... I didn't understand that as i was being told stretchy from term... She also told me baby was LOL not ROP. Which was a problem... And explained the back pain.

She left at about 10pm and while I settled my boy she had spoken of her findings to the labour ward and told people in my house that if i went in that night they'd break my waters to help speed things up. I discussed this with OH and i decided I was going to ring them and go in. I was in pain and paracetamol wasn't touching it much...

I rung labour ward and they told me that this had not been discussed, they would not break my water through the night as it was unsafe due to lack of staff etc. This seriously pissed me off as the midwife told my mum and BP that they would etc.

So I had some cereal as advised to eat something due to having keytones in urine from not eating enough and went to bed upset and in pain. I spent til 2.30am writhing in agony and eventually kicked him downstairs for some more paracetamol. I took those and at 2.45am decided I had had enough. When I got downstairs mum said she was shocked I hadn't got down earlier and that she had thought they were far too strong and every 3/4 minutes apart. She rang labour ward as I was in no fit state and they decided to ring midwife... After 2 contractions while awaiting the phone call I decided I couldn't wait any longer and made mum ring the ambulance. I needed help with the pain.

Ambulance turned up, one man walked in and said hi and asked what I was doing. I said I was waiting for the midwife, he said screw the midwife you're coming with us, come on!!!! Off i struggled into the ambulance. Mum got OH and he brought the suitcase. 100 mph down the road we arrive at hospital around 3.30am ish. I was assessed briefly in triage and booked in, stripped of the G&A briefly (painfully) and taken to a delivery room. I met my midwfie who was fantastic and she examined me and told me I was 5cm dilated, posterior cervix and baby was LOL. I was gutted... all that pain for 5cm AND posterior cervix with an almost back to back baby This was around 4am

I writhed, i even told OH if at next examination I wasn't 7cm I wanted my waters breaking!!!!

After much contracting and pain and poo (yuk) my waters went at 5.26am. I rung the buzzer for the midwife. I told her i wanted to push so she examined me and told me there was 1/2cm cervix left and baby was wrong so she put me on my back and cleaned me up and asked me to go back onto my side and elevate my leg. I couldn't hold it so was given a stirrup. She told me with next contraction to push and see what happened to that bit of cervix. I did and I felt it go, I also felt the baby turn, upon checking she agreed baby was now in the right position to eliver so i got back on my back for pushing It was 5.32am.

The head was out in no time and at 5.53am my beautiful baby girl was born weighing a whopping 8lb 11oz She is the double of her big brother.

Her apgar score was 9 at 1 min and 10 at 5 mins :) We were discharged at 9.30am.

I didn't get any sleep Monday night for labour, or Tuesday night as she didn't settle well, fed about an ounce whenever and has been quite mucusy. Tuesday we got up to 1.5oz every 3-4 hours and the mucus seemed to have eased but she was still a bit gippy. Wednesday she was on 2oz and Thursday saw her settle at 2oz every 3-4 hours. This morning she had to have her 2oz topped up so im guessing we may now be on 3oz :)

I am so happy.

It was a long 22 hours of labour but that was due to her being LOL and VERY unfavourable for birth. With fantastic midwifery care from a midwife who clearly cared this was very easily rectified and she was born quickly, safely and I only suffered a 1st degree tear (a graze) and it wasn't my episiotomy scar!!!!

Meet my beautiful Faith Elizabeth :baby::happydance::cloud9:xxx
