we are really struggling with a boys name. My DH loves the name Leonardo because he says our child will be famous (bless him) and says nobody else in his class at school will be call Leonardo.

i said i'm not keen but i do like the name Leo so he wants to compromise and have Leonardo on the birth certificate but refer to our son as Leo.

what do you guys think? i've tried to pick out other names but he just wont budge!!

full Name would be Leonardo Bouzaglo.

if we have a girl we are decided on Eva Louise Bouzaglo

its driving me crazy.

I really like leo, but not leonardo. It all depends whether your other half would end up introducing your son as leonardo or stick to the leo thing haha.

I think Leo is adorable, and it's nice that he would have a more formal name should he want to use it for professional reasons. He would definitely be unique without being weird, and it goes great with your last name.

Oh yeah, and if you let your OH think he named this baby, you can call dibs on the next one :winkwink:

I think Leonardo is fine if you are going to use Leo on a day to day basis anyway.

I'm sensing an Italian connection?

Eva Louise is beautiful by the way - Eva or Evie are on my girl shortlist, both as shortened versions of Evangeline.

thanks for the replies girls.

will be finding out pudding's sex on 26th August (hopefully) so i've told dh we will discuss it further then.

I like Leo! sounds a good compromise, Leonardo on birth certificate but calling baby Leo mainly

May I ask how you pronounce your last name? I think its a perfect compromise to call the LO Leo...very cute. Leonardo seems to go with the last name if my hunch is that its Italiano! This might be a moot point come the 26th:flower:

A girl at work has just called her baby Leo and i adore the name, i saw this post and asked her if it was short for anything.. And surprise, surprise.. Leonardo it is lol :)

I keep trying for Elsie, but the OH hates it.. so it looks like my pet tortoise shall get the name Elsie!

I think Leonardo sounds lovely with your last name! Unusual but not "made-up" or too far out. And Leo is really really cute!

Elsie is on my list for a girl... I think it is super cute, and it was my great grannies name.

i think the "bouzaglo" is from Italy but my DH is half english, half israeli!!

you say it Buz-aglo. i do agree that it Leonardo goes well with it but i just want a simple first name.

I think Leo is so adorable! A full name is nice though, so I say it is a good compromise, go for it.
