I just thought it might be helpful to tell you how my two labours compare as it goes to show that each one is different. My first boy was 9 pounds time from first contraction to baby born was 18 hours. As he got stuck in the pushing stage he ended up being delivered with forceps and I ended up with a 3rd degree tear which repaired well. I arrived at hospital at 8am and he was born at 6pm same day - no pain relief but ended up with epidural during forceps.
My second labour was 26 hours long in total (from first contraction to actually giving birth) but he was born completely natural and only second degree tear which was repaired quickly in delivery room. My baby was 7 pounds 14 (even though I was told all along that it would be another big baby). Arrived at hospital 8.30am and he was born at 12 noon same day, so left it a lot later.
So I just wanted to reassure you that just because you may have a more difficult labour the first time, the second time might not be as bad.
Would go through it all again to meet my baby, just keep thinking of the end result ladies and you can do it
