Hello everyone!
First off, please excuse my lengthy post. If you'd like to give me advice on Menoour + Femara, please feel free to skip this introduction paragraph! The good stuff is below.![Wink ;) ;)](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
Anyway, my name is Jenna and my husband and I have been TTC for over 6 years now. I have had no miscarriages that I know of, I've been through 11 cycles of clomid (6 cycles in 2009 carried in to 2010, 5 cycles in 2013), and finally got referred to an RE in my area. I had a softball sized cyst on my left ovary that they tried suppressing for 5 months with Lupron, and that didn't work so they decided on surgery when a blood test came back slightly elevated for cancer (they thought it was the cyst). Lucky for me, it was benign and I recovered quickly! Anyway, to make a long story short, I'm back at my Fertility office seeing a new RE (My last one moved to Pennsylvania I believe) and he started me on Femara. Last month was a bust - I went in on CD12 for a follicular scan and I only had one 16mm follicle on my right ovary, so they made me wait another day before I triggered ovulation with Ovidrel. Again, BFN.
This month, they decided to continue with Femara CD3-7 but add in Menopur injections (75 iu) CD7-11 (possibly CD12 if follicles needed more time) and a follicular scan again on CD12, and hopefully our first IUI.
I work third shift, and around 1:30am on CD11, I got the WORST pain in my abdomen. It felt like both of my ovaries were on fire. It hurt to walk! I have never in my 6+ yrs of trying ever felt anything like it. I took some Tylenol and within an hour I was feeling relief and after it wore off, the pain was gone.
The next day I went in for my scan - My ultrasound tech, who is also my fertility clinics nurse practitioner) said in her own words that my lining was "absolutely perfect." She started with my right ovary and... there was nothing. I seriously started to panic. She said not to worry, there was always the left! When she got over there, my heart sank. There was nothing! She asked me if the RE went over what is known as a 'Corpus Luteum." I said no - Basically a corpus luteum is what a follicle is called AFTER the egg is already released. I had already ovulated AND it was early!!! I told her about the pain and she said that sounded exactly like ovulation for some women, and the time frame was consistent with how my lining looked. She said that my body probably realized that the egg was in prime size and released it itself (for the first time ever!). She asked if DH and I had BD at all and I said yeah - twice on CD10 and the last time just hours before ovulation. She said that was perfect timing and she's hopeful for us.
I'm still angry that my body finally decided to work by itself a bit when we were gearing up for our first IUI this cycle if everything looked good. My husband is going out of town for 4wks for work training due to getting a supervisor spot, so next month may or may not fall in our favor. He'll be back in town (kind of) the weekend of March 22 and 23rd so I would have to drive almost 4 hours to meet with him IF ovulation falls on those days if this cycle is another BFN.
Anyway - Has anyone taken Menopur + Femara and had this happen with good results? She said this happening is rare, and that next cycle (should this one be a bust) she would have me come in on CD10 instead of 12.
Can anyone help me feel better about this and give me a little more hope? Thanks ladies!
