A long winded birth story for a short labor lol! iv managed to get both my girls to sleep at the same time and i refuse to use the time to do anything useful like cleaning so im wasting my time by writing a mammoth birth story lol!
had my bloody show on tuesday (18th) after that i went for my consultant appointment at the hospital and after they could still hear her eptopic heartbeat they decided to send me to DAU and to monitor me for an hour and a half, all ended up being fine and they offered me a sweep to get things going as i was already 3cm. Sweep was uncomfortable and painful at a few points but all in all not bad.
Went to town afterwards as i realised i still didnt have any nursing bras!!
luckily mothercare had 2 in my size which usually is a size that has to be ordered in! not the best looking of things, but i was desperate lol!
when we got home i decided to have a nap just incase things did start happening, i woke up at 4 to contractions
every 7-10 mins and not painful, just a bit crampy. I got up took a quick shower and got on with making lasagne... contractions were getting closer and closer together but still not painful so i decided it was just because it was 2nd baby lol! by the time i was dishing up dinner my contractions were a minute apart lasting for 45 seconds but still not painful! so i ate my dinner and got DD ready for bed before being pestered into ringing labor and delivery, they told me to come in now, i thought that was a bit ott as they still were only cramps! went in at 8:30pm and they ended up keeping me, i was 4cm but they said they didnt think id b like that for long once i relaxed, they were right, i gave my mum a call to take DD home and to bed and after i put the phone down the contractions were agony! midwife offered to break my waters to speed things up and as she checked (9pm) i was dilated to 8cm! she didnt break waters as she thought things might happen a bit too fast if she did lol! i was advised to slow things down by lying on my side because if she waas born too quick i could tear and she may be shocked, so i lay on my side trying not to push through the contractions, they were agony but i was still talking between them and joking with the midwife about us being stupid by not evolving to have zips!
about 11pm midwife decided i could go on so i ran to the loo first to do a pee and ended up losing a ridiculous amount of mucus! it was just pouring from me, i couldnt wipe it away and it the midwife had to come in with scissors to cut the mucus and a pad to hold against me until i got to the bed were she was going to try get rid of the mucus for me, got onto the bed, legs akimbo for her to get rid of the mucus and as she was putting on some gloves i had a huge contraction and my waters popped! everywhere! haha! they soaked her and OH and the floor and OHs comfy chair, the floor was slippy and OH went to get a mop to save me having to be on show to the cleaner haha! I was in fits of laughter at this point! (not what you expect in labor!) after the fiasco of all that had been cleared away it was about 11:50 and i needed to push, i decided for the lying on my side position as my hips were killing! my little girl arrived after about 7 pushes and a recorded 2nd stage of 7 mins! we had skin to skin straight away and she was gorgeous!! just as the midwife gave me the injection for the placenta i had a push and out it came, so there was no need for the shot, but i still ended up having it lol!
She took to breastfeeding pretty quickly but will only feed from the side which is really hard to try to cover yourself up when everything is out in the open at the front lol!
my heartbeat went up into the 150s so i had to have a monitor on for a few hours, then when it went to a normal level i got moved down to post natal ward, were it shot up again as i hate it there and was anxious they were going to try keep me in, they did try so i dishcharged myself.
We got home and DD was very excited to give her new baby sis a cuddle, but was very upset that i had been in the hospickle lol!
midwife came around the next day and heartbeat was fine, i went the docs on fri just to check there was no other cause and she gave me the all clear, so once again, as with my experience from DD the experience from hospital was awful were they thought they were in the right even tho im pretty in tune with my body and i know when something is right/wrong and knew everything was fine, (i was up, dressed, hair done, make up on and bags packed all ready to go when the midwife came in to check on me when we got put on the postnatal ward! she came in the curtains, smiled at me and then asked OH if mummy was in the loo! she thought i was a visitor because i was sitting on the chair not looking like a patient lol! so obviously i looked fine too!) it once again ruined those first precious hours with my newborn.
But anyway, were all home, healthy happy and doing great! Eliza has put on 4oz already! lil piggy!
congrats if you managed to read the till the end! my lil piggy is waking up for another feed, no wonder she has put on so much!

yea we had her at st richards, i had my first their and this time around the labour was much better with how much calmer things were, plus it was nice to have own en suite and be able to send OH to the kitchen to make tea etc (we took our own tea bags tho as i hate hospital tea!) have you been for a tour yet? i didnt bother, im glad i didnt as i was pleasantly surprised when we got there, it has changed a lot and is much better but in my opinion more could of been done, but im picky! lol! xxx
