So when do you get your first doc appt/scan etc. in Canada? I get the impression from others posts you are likely to get a lot more attention than here in the UK.

Well you can go to the Dr whenever you want. We are covered here by MSP (kind of like your NHS). We have to pay for it! but then we get everything covered. If you are working its like $100/month for a couple. As for scans, hmm Im not sure about that, guess I will find out when I go to the Dr! I'll keep you posted.
