just wanted to share my vbac birth story, my last birth was a emcs after failure to progress after an induction at 40+12.
so this time i woke up on my due date (8th april) withperiod cramps coming every half hour or so, carried on throughout the day and by the evening were a lot more uncomfortable, kept having to go to toilet (number 2) lol, had a bath and went to bed but couldnt sleep as they were coming every 7 minutes and lasting for a minute, by 1am we went to the hospital and i was 2cm dilated and fully effaced, thecontractions went on all night but were manageable so ijust had paracetamol. By the morning my contractions slowed down and eventually they sent me home that afternoon and told me to come back if they got bad again which they did but i didnt want to go in too early only to be told i hadnt progressed much so i waited it out through the night and by the morning they were really bad again so went back to hospital. I had made some progress all be it only 1cm, and iwas losing my plug thick and fast literally lol! after a few hours they decided to break my waters to see if it would speed things up, it didnt! by 3pm i had stuck at 5cm and they were talking about doing a c-section if nothing happened soon, i couldnt believe it i had got this far on my own with no real pain relief and it seemed it was all going down the same road as last time. they decided to try the hormone drip and see how much progress i had made by 5pm and then if i hadnt dilated further then a decision would be made. boy did the hormone drip work! contractions came on strong and long and i asked for somegas and air which really helped. by 4pm i had a strong urge to push and after half an hour of pushing out came my perfect 6lb 4oz baby boy, i only had a small tear and was allowed home 3hours later. so all in all a pretty amazing experience and i am so glad i managed to do it.
