Hi, I am in trouble. I have a 14 years old son who was top in studies and other extracurricular activities in his school. I started noticing a change in his behavior in the last 3 months. His performance has reduced and he was sitting dull all the time. Once he said me that he was not able to hear properly, but he could hear the beeping sounds and high pitch sounds. We had his hearing evaluation the last month from Hearing Solutions, Toronto and they suggested hearing aids for him. Now he is using hearing aids, but he has changed a lot. He is not concentrating on his studies. I fear that I will lose him. What might have changed him like this? He can hear now with the hearing aids. Will he become fine within some months? I really don't know what to do. Any thoughts?

Hope so he will be okay within 1 or 2 months. Don't worry, or try to consult a psychiatrist.

Would it be worth seeking medical advice on what caused the hearing loss in the first place? Perhaps there is a link between the cause of hearing loss and your sons change in behaviour?
