By giving Ava a formula feed at night? can it affect my supply?

my boobie milk never seems enough for her anymore! what should i do?

She's probably in a growth spurt, they have one around 6wks. I would really try and hold out and see how she's doing in about a week or so. If she's in a growth spurt it would be good to just continue nursing as much as she wants so your supply can adjust to what she needs.

If you are giving her a bottle at the same time every day, then your body think it doesn't need as much milk as if you were only giving her a bottle every so often. BUT having said that, it probably is that big 6 week growth spurt. It takes your body a few days or so to catch up to her need. Her being unsatisfied will give your body those clues to make more milk. Just let her nurse and demand, and it will catch up.

thanks girls, i really dont want to stop :( it makes me upset that i might have too, i am gonna carry on, she is having wet nappys but hardly any pooey ones but i dont know if its the formula clooging her up

You can make more than enough milk, it is just a time factor. I remember always worrying the same way, I just kept nursing on demand and my supply would always catch up. My son crossed over from the 25% to the 95% in height this past check up from 9 month to 12 on pretty much just breast milk alone. So if I can make enough milk for a 12 month old, you can make enough for a almost 2 month old. It is just a matter of having faith in your body.

I agree with Samantha675...your body will catch up to what she needs. Make sure you drink plenty of water and make time yourself to eat healthy meals and you will be fine. It's very common for breastfed babies to go even a week without having a dirty diaper, so really watch her wet ones, those should continue as normal

Agree with the girls. Everytime you use a top up you tell you boobs that they are making enough. Unless you give them the signals - ie feeding - then they wont know to produce more. I slipped in to the top up trap and the good news is that if you'd rather not, then it's relatively easy to ditch them - just put the baby on the booby and send those messages!

:)
