Basically my son is scared to poo on the potty. As some of you may have read, he recently started potty training. He now pees consistently and perfectly, no accidents at all. He tells us when he needs to pee, then off we go to the washroom.

But he has only pooped once on the potty?? He must be sooo full with it right now, but he says he is scared and nervous. Any advice?

Just keep relaxed and praising him, maybe buy a book on it (imagine there is one) or a book to read to have a poo  my DD does that. Sorry I have no great advice my daughter was easy. I do remember hearing that it was more scary. Maybe a gift or sticker?

when you go, take him with you and tell him what youre doing and ask him if he wants to try, he might prefer to just go on the toilet.

another one is to stick a sticker (a plastic one!) in the bottom of the potty for him to aim for when he poops (that way its more of a game)

He already goes on the regular toilet, just with his potty lid oer top. I think he might be too old for thoe tricks too, I have tried so much.

He articulates clearly to me. He point blank says, no, I am nervous, I will not poop. Hlw on earth do I come back and argue other than tell him there is no reason to be?

Is there a reward you can give him if he goes? Once he has been a few times he may be more likely to start going alone then. Maybe buy him a really exciting toy.. or a book you know he will love?
If its something really exciting and he knows he gets it if he has a poo on the toilet, he may be less nervous and too busy focusing on the reward toy? Also you could maybe say that you will sing to him while he has a poo. Or try something like telling him the poo fairies get really happy when big boys and girls poo on the toilet / potty. I find when I have problems with my 3 year old making up a fairy related story fixes all. As he loves he hear the story about it and imagine they are flying round happy that he does something etc lol.

Robyn took a little while to get around to pooing on the potty, she just didn't seem comfortable doing it, she'd wee in the potty, but for a poo, she'd wait till nighttime when she had a nappy on and did it in there. Eventually she started pooing though. Sometimes she still doesn't seem comfortable. I'd definately try sitting next to him and read him a book while he's sitting on the potty and talk to him about how good he'll be if he does a poo. Bit of bribery with a sweetie might work too! If you can just get him to go once and then be all happy and excited over it, he should overcome his fear of doing it.

aww bless his little socks, i dont know then, maybe just lots of encouragement, and seeing mum and dad go? Tyler was so young when i potty trained him i dont think he had time to consider being scared.

Well ladies, he took a poop. And WOW is all I have to say!!!!! It was huugeeeeee. He is incredibly proud because of the size, so we are thinking his nervs may curve because of it. I think he went only because it was an emergency.
