My update & new confusion! :(

To update after brown blood & cramps i got scanned today.

The sac was empty. Sonographer could only tell me that it looks more like what she would see at 6wks & not 8wks that i thought i was.

So she said either A - I am only 6wks & thats why we can't see anything.
Or B - I am 8wks but the baby has stopped developing at 6wks.

I've to go back for a scan in a weeks time when i would be 7wks & she said by then we would hope so see baby.

So here i am confused again. Could i have got dates wrong by 2wks? Could i go back in 1wks time to find there IS a baby.

Also the brown spotting when i wipe has gone & so are the cramps. Been told if it is a MC i may pass baby by next week.

Any help / info is most appreciated x

Hi hon, I had a similar experience and I am happy to say I am still pregnant and will be 9 weeks on Friday. I had my mirena coil removed on 22nd Jan and got a bfp on 22nd Feb. At what I thought was about 5w+4 I had some spotting, I had an early scan and the sonographer could see a sac, but no baby, and it looked like the sac had blood in it. They took bloods to test my hcG levels, and over 2 days they doubled as expected. The bleeding had stopped by this point, so they had me back for another scan 2 weeks later and there was a little heartbeat! By that time I thought I would be 7w but they put me at 6w and that explains why they couldn't see anything on the first scan.

It might all be ok hon, fingers crossed for you x

Never got bloods taken but was told if baby was alive we should defo see some sign of that in a weeks time. It will be a week in complete limbo for

Where you hun?..Did you have a similar situation. Feel like i am clutching at straws here..but from what i have read i could well go back to find a baby is there!

I've had two similar experiences, one was that I had gone and had a scan and they found a sac that was about 6weeks in size but it was empty but they did bloods told me it didn't look good and my bloods were slowly rising and dropped and I had a miscarriage.
My second experience was a month later I found out I was pregnant had an early scan there was just a tiny sac and they did bloods and booked me another scan, my bloods double and the next week there was a yolk sac and the week after a heart beat, I conceived around a week after my period was due. I'm now 11weeks pregnant I would say if they haven't done blood work or told you it doesn't look good they think it's early on. If the sac was too big without a fetus I would of thought it would raise concern to the sonographer. Try not to worry Hun I know it's hard

I will keep my fingers crossed for you! I can't understand why they didn't take bloods to check your hcg levels as that would give an indication as to what is happening.

I am in a similar situation at the moment, although I haven't had a scan yet as I am only 4.5 weeks and need to wait another week and a half for my scan. I've been having brown spotting and cramping and want to know what is happening so I can almost understand your frustrations.

Really sorry to hear you're going through this, sounds really stressful

Sorry if this has already been mentioned and I've missed it but were you TTC? Did you record your cycles for a good few months beforehand? Maybe you just ovulated super late? Or maybe baby has been growing more in other ways like on the inside rather than growing in size? I've heard of this happening, and then the baby having a big physical growth spurt soon after. I was dated almost a week behind when I went for a scan at about 7 1/2 weeks and the sonographer told me how inaccurate it is to date you when you're so early on 'cause babies grow at different rates and 1mm size can make all the difference in terms of days/weeks.

And as for the bleeding and cramps, I'm sure it's just normal...I had bleeding at 7ish weeks too (that's why I got an early scan) and everything was totally fine. I was worried sick at first 'cause I thought it would be too late for implantation bleeding and couldn't think what else it could be, but all was fine

Thanks for the info. I was TTC yes but i don't do all that charting stuff so i don't know when i ovulate, length of cycles etc so yes it may well be i have my dates wrong - i suppose 2wks isnt that far out! Totally praying my

Yeahh deffo I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! It could even be a combination of the two - you ovulated later than you thought AND your baby's just a bit small for its age / is about to have a growth spurt.

I had an empty sac until 6 weeks 2 days and I knew my dates were for certain so yo never know! They scanned me every two days because they suspected a second ectopic pregnancy and it was horrible waiting. I hope you see your baby at the next scan.
