At my 38 week midwife appointment my midwife was concerned as I was showing signs of preeclampsia (at the exact same point as with my first LO)
She sent me to the hospital who didn't seem too concerened at all! The senior doctor insisted that I had a stretch and sweep to see if it would get things moving along naturally if not I would be induced in the next week. During the sweep she said I was already 1cm and my cervix was soft.
I went home that night and felt fine. I was devastated by this as I was convinced it would work! The next day my OH went to work and I was nesting like crazy! During my food shopping trip I felt a tiny cramp but it soon went away.
At about 7pm I tucked my LO into bed and I remembered feeling sad but could not explain why. I came downstairs and started watching TV with my OH. At about 8:15pm I got some period like cramping that was coming every 15 minutes and lasting about 20 seconds. I told my OH but he didn't believe me until my 5th pain haha!
The pains were really mild and at 10:30pm they were still every 15 minutes so I was convinced I would make it through the night at home.
I grabbed a shower sorted out my file and made sure I was groomed
At 11:45pm we went up to bed. As I layed down the cramps were getting a little bit stronger but I tried to sleep. At 12:15am I went to the toilet and noticed I was loosing my plug. I put on a maternity pad as I lost my waters with my first LO minutes after loosing the plug.
On the way back into the bedroom POP! my waters broke! Just like the first time
My OH was dazed as I had assured him we would be fine till morning haha!
I rang my dad and step mum as they had to come and watch my LO as we had been told to go straight to hospital because of my high bp.
The 15 minute drive to the hospital felt like eternity. My contractions were now quite painful and were coming on top of each other. I was trying hard not to look in pain in ront of my dad haha!
We got to the hospital at 1:10am and I was examined at 1:40am and was told I was 5cm yey!!!
She gave me 2 paracetomol and off she went. I was strapped to the bed and I wasn't allowed to get off as I was being monitored as my blood pressure was through the roof.
By 2am my contractions were agony and were coming every 30 seconds. My poor OH didn't know what to do. All I wanted to do was stand up but I wasn't allowed. At 2:45am I begged for an epidural. She said it would be over an hour as the doctor was in surgery - I cried haha!!
At 3am I felt a strange sensation and shouted for my OH to get the midwife. He was staring at me asking why so obviously I threw an empty bed pan at him. He went out and got a random midwife and I was mortified as I had thought I was about to poo myself. My body was pushing and I couldn't stop. Another midwife ran in and checked me and a little push later and the head was out. When I looked up I saw it was the midwife who delivered my first LO
Finally at 3:23am my baby girl was delivered
She was 7lbs 13oz and 54cm long.
My labour was 3 hours long and apart from 2 paracetomol, drug free!
We were sent home later that morning ready to start our life with 2 under 2
