Has anyone tried this (or even heard of it)? In researching, it is said to help increase insulin sensitivity and reduce excess testosterone. Apparently is is just an amino acid so it should be safe but wondered if anyone had any other experience or insight. Thanks!

Hi there I have heard of this. Also known as NAC I use it a lot at work (im a nurse). I have only ever seen it used in patients with Paracetamol overdose or used in patients with chronic kidney disease. Never ever heard of it used to help with Testosterone leves or such though. Would be interested to hear more though, where did you hear about it? x

I too have seen in practice it given to patients who tylenol overdose and I have seen it given to patients prior to any procedure where contrast dye is used. The NAC works to protect the kidneys. It is given in a tylenol overdose because it binds to the tylenol and deactivates it. I have also heard of studies where it has been given to cystic fibrosis patients to thin out secretions. I don't have any info relating it to fertility though.

Thanks for the responses ladies - its great to hear from a medical perspective! I first saw it listed as a recommended supplement in the book "Making Babies: a proven 3 month program for maximum fertility." I didn't recognize it so I googled N-Acetyl cysteine for OXIDATION and found some additional info. After hearing about what its actually used for i'm not sure I want to be trying it. Think I'll just wait and ask my Dr. next month... Thanks again! :)
