I actually dont know if im having a boy or girl, if its a boy It will be Michael (Mikey) after my hubby, but ........really don't want to offend anyone but everyone seems to be calling there baby girls the top 10 baby names that around at the moment, ie Isabella, Stella, Emma, Evie, Scarlett, Olivia, Amelia, lily or Grace, there's a few more that ive see over and over again. I actually really like these names but I don't want my baby to have a name that probably at least 2 of her friends will have at school. Its so hard now a days to pick something different! Just having a wee rant lol x

girls names are really difficult. i wanted a very unique name for my lo, for a boy i chose zane and for a girl my oh wanted lilly which is getting quiet common now.

good luck finding a name ur happy with :)

See, i do like the names its just i want to be a wee bit different. I probably have a boy anyway! lol x

thats what im like chick. i love all those names but wont personally choose them due to popularity as i like my child to be known for their name. my little girls called kaidee (kay - dee) and no one i know around here has a little girl named that. i know of 5 lilly-maes!!!
i also like Mica for a girl instead of a boy (my - car)
Peyton isnt that popular in the UK either
summer is pretty but slowly growing in popularity since dawn in eastenders called her little girl summer.
theres a few out there just google it lol. xx

also recently ive fallen in love with the name Luna-Rose for a girl after seeing it as someones username on BnB.
i think its so mysterious but beautiful at the same time. xx

god wish my computer at work would let me edit posts lol!
another name i like is Talullah - nn's tally, lula, lully bum (a cutsie little one hehe) and its a really lovely name and not that popular.
if i get thinking about it i could probably find loads of lovely girly names that are cute, but also nice to have as grown up names for when they are older and are different and not too popular. xx

i really like luna-rose, but someone said to me luna-tic! i love Talullah aswell, reminds me of bugsy malone!

lol didnt think of the luna-tic thing haha i suppose you could changethe spelling some how. i forgot there was a talullah in bugsy lol. but there are some very pretty different not so popular names out there just gotta put the effort in to look.
i was on the internet most days and had my head in books most days as well finding my little girls name. xx

I know how you feel. My name was popular when I was born. I went to school with 4 other people in my grade who had the same name as me. The year below us there were 6 with the same name, the year below them was 7 people. The year above us had 4.

My OH also has a common name and I know sooo many people with his name. His best friend's name is the same. We tend to distinguish the two of them as Chris-D and Chris-B.

For our son, we wanted a regular common name, but I flat out refuse to go with one of the top twenty popular names within the past few years. I don't want our son to go through what we went through.

My mum did her best for me: Rachel was an unusual name at the time I was born, or so she thought. Turned out it was only unusual in the area we lived in - we moved house when I was nine, and out of the seventy children in my primary school, I was one of seven Rachels!

I google names alot. There's alot of names ive never even dreamed of.

Good Luck :flower:

I've never met anyone with my name although there are plenty out there (mainly in Wales).
I have always loved being the only me, so I hope to find a name similar for it when it comes.
Struggling though as I keep gravitating towards quite popular names and all the less popular ones I like? Vetoed!

just found out my sisters mate has stolen my sons name (zane) im not impressed, why cudnt she think of her own name the cow lol

its just too hard to be different these days. Think im going to find out the sex at my 20 week scan, that way I can stop thinking and stressing over girls names. unless its a girl that is!

Lol I was like you, wanted original names, especially when I had my girls, I wanted something no-one else had, so I came up with Shani (pronounced Shaynee) for my first, then when I was preg with daughter no.2 I was going to have Taylor, until I heard a woman at my local market squawking the name at the top of her voice, put me right off :nope:, luckily she didnt look like a Taylor when she was born anyway, we ended up with Sofia, which then was pretty unheard of, plenty of Sophie's but no Sofia's . My first son is called Franklin, only ever heard of one other near where we live and with my second son - Sonny, didnt know anyone with that name, only a baby born last year (friend of a friend). But my last two girls I seemed to have gone quite traditional, although we had Evie picked out from when I was pregnant with Franklin and back then in 2004 it was not at all popular , and Madeleine is after my nan :flower:. xx

If you pick out all your favorite UK name... and move to the US... they will all be unpopular names! I don't know any scarlettes... and I love that name!

I was the other way round at school, I was the only person in the whole school with my name, even my secondary school which is the biggest in the county with about 2500-3000 kids in it, I was the only Judith.. I hated having such an uncommon name! I'm yet to this day to come across another Judith, except Judith charmers, and more recently that clever Judith on eggheads!

Hahaha, love ClaireNicole's idea.

I like the popular names but prefer to look for ones that are less common where I am, I have Morgan his 6 and we only know one in RL - she liked his name so much she used it, I then had Naomi-Mae (almost 5), back then Mae wasnt really a popular name and I still dont know any other Naomi's, Honey is 3 and Kaysie Blossom is 2 and I dont know any others with the same names either. Might be popular in other areas though.

I like the less common names too! But my sister has gone way too far (says the family when shes not around) She's naming her new LO Finley... boy or girl... and THAT is a WEIRD name in the US lol I was like oH i've heard that its huge in the UK  but my parents were like WHAT IS THAT?!?!?!

I LOVE Morgan for a boy or girl!(OH says NO because of Captain Morgan... and he doesn't want people to think we named her after booze) and Naomi! But it reminds me of Naomi Campbell... and who can live up to THAT?
