Names you just cannot use?

SO many names are out for us, because of OH's surname ending in "-son"

So anything like Emerson, Karson, Weston, are all out
Also anything ending in just N seems to clash, so Mikaelyn and Aeralyn are out too...
Also have to watch how many Ls are in the name, because Lily for example would sound awful IMO

Still loving Neveyah though and think it sounds cute with the alliteration

I know an Anna Bell (and no that's not a married name)

not many of limits for use just anything like Ima

I like the name Belle for a girl, but when said with our surname it would sound like Belly 😄

our last name is daily. so when we were picking names for our first we didn't even think about it but loved the name ryder....ryder daily sounds a little perverted. I love Karson but Karson daily no... love Kaleigh but again no.

Yes, all my favorite names! Our last name is Sanders, so we have to be careful about S names. That counts out some of my favorites like Silas, Serena, Sienna, Scarlett...I feel like with the combination of two S names, our child would have no choice but to grow up and be a news anchor!

Anything beginning with B...(Initials would be BS)
Thomas, Joel, Benjamin, Sara or Robert as they are in the family already
Anything with Max as my name is Maxine and I wouldn't want people to think I'd named him after me.
William...The surname would imply he had a small penis if shortened to Willy. Same with Richard (Dick)
I can't use the name Marlowe as my partner isn't keen but I'm a big fan (for a boy, like Christopher Marlowe)
Saul, Paul or anything similar as they rhyme with the surname (not that I like these anyway)

I won't name my child the same name as anyone who I've disliked in my life, because I don't want to be reminded of them. My husband suggested Alexis if we have a girl, but I went to high school with someone with that name who was vain and kind of full of herself, lol! I don't want to use names of relatives either, I want to come up with our own names. So far my husband hasn't been crazy about my suggestions, I like more unique names and he likes more classic names.

Autumn is out, as it is a mouthful with our surname. It's a shame as I love Autumn Belle.

Tuesday is also out

I'm with you on that. Luckily wehad names picked out that we've never know people to have before. And if I meet one now that I dislike I'll be very disappointed.

Boyfriend's surname is Moore, so there's quite a lot of names that sound silly with it. I had my heart set on the name Aurora, but couldn't get past "Aurora Moore". Ugh. :'( I told BF if we have another little girl, I'll just give her my surname so we can use it... Lol.

Then of course there's relatives names that I'm really close to. Autumn, Summer, Hailey, Abigail, Kyla, Kiara, Brooke, and Samantha for girls... Noah, Gabriel, Ryan for boys. I used to love the name Holly, but one of bf's exes made me dislike it.

Arthur was my top name for a boy until I found out that granny's still born boy was called Arthur :( so glad she told me about him (I didn't tell her I was planning to use the name, just said it was lovely) :hugs:

Weston, Finley, Pixie, Daisy all out as theyve been used for pets names.

Ruby, Scarlett probably scratched as well due to becoming too popular!

I've bugged DH for 3 years to let me use Kalliope Alice (nickname Kallie) but he won't budge at all. Same with Atticus.

I always loved Sadie, but our daughter goes by Katie so can't use it anymore.

I love Lucas, but OH flat out refused :(

Also we vaguely (not really seriously)considered the girl's name Delenn, after a character on Babylon five... Until we realised it sounded like we'd made up a name from our names (Dave and Helen!) :haha: that put a swift end to that suggestion!

Delenn's cute!! :)

I love the name Luke/Lucas, but we can never use it if we have another boy as my ex previous to my OH was called Luke and the man my OH's ex left him for was called Luke! So bad blood on both sides, but OH and I both agree that we love the name. Sad!

Dh and I are both teachers so there are many names we can't use. :haha: Too many bad associations with names like Dylan (seriously never taught a Dylan that was a nice kid) or Joshua or Felicia.

I love the name Arwyn but our friends' little girl is Azelyn so it might get confusing.

I used to love Caleb but my cousin called her little boy that.

Dh liked Ryder but with our last name (Russell) that just won't go. Also, my best friend has a dog named Ryder.

I love love love the name Poppy but kiddo's grandfathers are pop and poppy.

We almost named my LO Anna but my cousin has a daughter named Anna and I ultimately decided I didn't feel comfortable using a name she's already used.

I also loved Emma but DH's cousin has a girl named Emma, so... same issue.

I also have a cousin with a Malcolm which I think is adorable.

Damn cousins.

Oh I have a few I cannot use.

I love the name Hannah, but it is my cousin's name, and she and I are very close, so it would be a tad awkward to have a child with the same name. I also love Lucas and Heather, but Heather is my SIL's name, and Lucas is a name used on a friend's son.

DH loves Holly, but our last name is Cali (pr. Ca-lee) and the first name and surname rhyming like that would just sound awful :nope:

We're in the same boat. I LOVE the name Madeleine but DH's ex's mother was Madeleine and she was a beast of a woman (both physically and mentally) so he flat out refuses!
