My little girl fights sleep in the day, and probably would at night too but we currently feed to sleep. But in the day she will be tired so I start rocking and she SCREAMS, pulls my hair(not on purpose she is only 5 months) and really seems upset for as long as an hour. I don't want try CIO but she is almost crying it out in my arms which isn't nice:cry: but if I put her on my breast she settles instantly and it's not hunger cause she sleeps not long after she's been fed! I have tried laying down with her and her bouncer but neither work. The annoying part is, when we are at families/friends 90% she goes down soooo much easier
I suppose i just want some tips and also to hear your child who was like this naps and sleeps brilliantly now.

I nurse her to sleep, if she's got overtired then I put some white noise on and she settles instantly, nurses and goes to sleep.

Have you tried a pacifier since she seems to like to comfort suck?

I've used a pacifier successfully twice and she went straight off but apart from those two time it makes her more upset/no difference!

I would try putting her down sooner as it sounds like she may be overtired. Also if feeding to sleep works then do it, make life easy for yourself.

I agree with the others. If it ain't broke don't fix it! I used to stress about stuff like that all the time, then I adjusted my expectations of my daughter and stopped comparing our situation with others' and I felt a LOT better about it. I think so many of us give ourselves a hard time when we don't need to because we think our babies SHOULD be going to sleep on their own, or SHOULD be napping more through the day, etc. Just go with your instincts and try do what works for you and your baba, she won't be a baba forever :flower:

Ps. A few things that have worked for us:

Going for a walk
Going for a drive
White noise and/or alpha music
Reading

She changes all the time and sometimes one thing works then the next minute it doesn't. You just have to go with the flow as best you can! Good luck :) and try not to beat yourself up. If it works, keep doing it!

With my dd, dummy, white noise, swaddling with a blanket so she can't pull at her face/muslin and putting a Muslin over her eyes work well. She fights sleep like mad too but the eye covering tells me when she's tired as she calms immediately once I've covered her eyes. She might start up again though which is where the white noise comes in. Then I can put her in her car seat or buggy and rock her to sleep in those, once she's asleep I stop rocking.
