Hi Girls,
Really random question, only hubby and i have been buying a pack of nappies every couple of weeks with the food shop to help build up supplies, we've bought size 1 which i understand goes up to 7lbs how many of that size will i need before i'll need size 2?

I think there was a post on here a few days ago regarding this. Many were saying to get 100 size 1s (they should go higher than 7lbs though?, usually 10 or 11lbs depending on the brand)
This should last 3-4 weeks. So I think thats about 4 packs of size 1s. And then get the smae again in size 2s if you want to be really organised!

cool thanks! i have no idea bout all this yet! just want to get organised before the time or money runs out hehe

We've got 4x27 of huggies newborn, they go to 10-11lb. We're just having those until shes here x

I have 2 packs of pampers size 1's and 2 packs of huggies size 1, so just over 100 in total, they say that newborns can go through 10 nappies a day, so that's just under 2 weeks worth. Then I have 100 Size 2. xx

I hear they use about 10 nappies a day to start, so you'll want about 300-400 for the first month.

I have one pack of size 1 pampers, i refuse to buy anymore till she is born as ive had a lot of mums tell me that different brands suit different bums! dont want to stock up on pampers and then her poo fall out the sides and huggies work out to be the best lol.
Is tempting tho especially when they are on offer! xx

I've got two packs of pampers and two packs of huggies - just in case I don't get on with one type. Think I'm going to get one pack of Tesco ones too, as they are supposed to be good x

with my 1st DD i used all different brands tesco, sainsburys, huggies pampers etc - i always went back to pampers. With my 2nd DD everyone had been saying how good tesco ones now were...so i bought some tesco and some pampers...I have to say its pampers all the way...Hollie had lots of explosive ones due to reflux...like up to the armpits type explosion and pampers was the only nappy that could at least attempt to contain it. As with how many you will need then i would not buy too many size 1's and it all depends on the size and shape of your baby. Just buy a few packs of each and if you need to get more when the baby is born then you can xxxx

p.s. i dont know if it is just me and it has been about 4 years since i last tried them but i find huggies to be very crystally with hardly any wee in them at all xxx

ijust bught a couple of packets as i will just get them each week as i need them when i go shopping

i had the same problem with my son i had lots of size 1 pampers and everytime he weed they leaked out the side of the legs i had to use huggies are they were a little snugger on the legs i used the pampers up as he got a bit bigger but then had to pass them onto a friend or i would of had a lot of wasted nappies so i am going to buy 2 packs of each to start as i may have the same problem you never know lol

I got my free pack of huggies with the coupon from the pack my midwife gave me and I bought a double pack of size 2 pampers the other day as I had a coupon for £2 off in Tesco as I joined the Tesco baby club (well worth doing by the way!!). The smaller packs were about £3 on offer and the double pack was about £3.97 or something! Bargain!

Thanks girls, a lot of mixed replies. I think iwill stick with what i've got for now and see how i get one when she is here. i can always send hubby out to get more!

I'll be using Pampers (apart from the free/on offer others that I may have/get). In both neonatal units I've worked in, we use Pampers; and I do find them the best (when the babies are only in Special Care, we tend to get parents to bring the nappies, and I haven't liked other brands). Their Size 1 is 4-11lb, and their Micro size is for 2-5lb (are lovely for smaller/earlier babies). They also do an even smaller size, but I don't think you can get them in the shops since you wouldn't have your baby home if they were that small. My point is, I like all of them. Even the insanely small ones, we sometimes use on bigger babies receiving phototherapy (so they still have a nappy on but have maximum skin exposed to light), and once the bilirubin starts working through their systems, there's some big poos; but even these really tiny nappies do a great job.

yeah pampers is defo my fav too not sure why just the only ones i've really come into contact with!

i used huggies to start with when i had my son and he leaked out of every one i put on him so switched to pampers which were great. However i found that the asdas own and aldis own are just as good too, but to be honest they have put the prices up on both so they arent much cheaper than pampers now. xx
