My daughter will only nap in her car seat for longer than 30 minutes. I don't like leaving her in there but it's the only way to get her to nap. What do you guys think?

It's tricky when LO won't nap properly elsewhere but I was advised when I bought a "maxi-cosi" car seat that the baby should be in it for one hour only at a time.

From time to time I don't see that it'd harm. As long as its not all the time/every day. X

i wouldnt but i might have been super-paranoid xx

If I'm out and about visiting and lo needs a nap I put her in her car seat for one. I never leave her unattended and leave it on the floor so there is no way of nicking it over. And if she falls asleep in it while in the car I bring her in it at let her sleep till she wakes up. Up to you personal opinion. She naps I. Her bouncer chair otherwise as that's the only place she will nap.

My LO sleeps in her car seat full time!
She has terrible reflux and it's the only way she can sleep and still keeps acid down. We are trying to work out her meds dosage and what is/isn't working so till then go has ok'd her sleeping in the car seat. I try and put her on her back for most of the time she is awake but coz of her reflux she hates it so I prop her up slightly.

If the doctor is ok with her sleeping 10 odd hours in it at night, plus naps in the day, I'm sure your LO will be ok for a nap here and there x

I wouldn't let her, but that's just me. I let my kids do it when they were babies out of convenience after running errands if they were still crashed out but now as a daycare and foster care provider I've attended a number of trainings that advise against it due to the risk of positional asphyxiation (a form of SIDS). As far as licensing standards go there isn't a single state where it's allowed. If I have a child sleeping in any kind of seat or swing I will be fined or possibly even lose my license because of the danger is poses.

If a baby in my care has reflux I acquire a proper wedge to safely prop the mattress.

I wouldn't and car seats are actually known to aggravate reflux due to the scrunched up position of the stomach (infant ones). I was advised absolute minimal/essential only car seat use as the position pushes up the contents of the stomach so more likely to gag on acid.

I wouldn't as both of my boys have been more sick from their reflux in the car seat. x

Well all I know is that she won't sleep more than 10 minutes in her Moses without choking on her acid which wakes her up coughing and screaming. And I have wedged the top of it up it makes no difference. She will sleep in her seat for 3/4 hours happily without even waking and she is a lot happier when she is getting her rest at least

I might get shouted at for this but have you tried putting her down on her tummy? I've heard a lot of babies with reflux sleep much better on their tummies xxx

I wouldn't, I feel very uncomfortable about it, my car seat stays in the car.
Could you try a different type of bouncer?

If it's so bad that she can't rest laying down even while propped up it's a pretty bad case. Is she on any sort of GERD medication to get better control of the acid?

If she is it may be time to bug her doc about upping the dose or changing to a different kind that works better for her.

I personally wouldn't do this either as it's more dangerous than letting her sleep in the car seat - but to each their own.

Same here, the car seat cover was always in the wash! :/ according to this taken from another website we'd be right

The semi-reclined position combined with pressure on her abdomen caused by her position in the car seat for long periods of time can cause more reflux episodes. It's best to keep your baby in an upright sitting position for a while after eating rather than laying her in a car seat. When it's time for her nap, lay her on her back in her crib or bassinet.

Thanks, someone else has said this to me, personally the idea terrifies me but I might try it for her nap tomm as I would prefer her to sleep in her Moses of course.

Messica, yes she has it really bad poor thing. Doctor is upping her meds and changing stuff around but we just need to find what combination works. Coupled with the fact that she has lactise intolerance and/or milk protein allergy/intolerance really doesn't help as we are also trying to find a milk that suits her at the same time. Poor thing went days without sleeping more than 10/15 mins at a time unless I had her upright on my chest which I did when I could but obviously neither of us were really getting any sleep!

No I wouldent, if she needs to be upright try a good sling

Mine naps in his car seat sometimes. I just keep a close eye on him, don't see the problem if it's not all the time

Oh phew,
I leave my lil guy in it til he wakes up. I take him for a walk or we go visiting and he stays there till he wakes up.
My sister LO had really bad reflux maxi cosi literally saved her life. LO never slept or had relief. And at that point you'd try anything.

Quite, it's no good for her (or me) to go without more than 10/15 mins sleep a time, she gets so overtired and it makes the problem so much worse. Hopefully when her medication is sorted she will be able to go back in her Moses but for now it's the only place she will sleep. Tried slings, she doesn't like them at all, even from when she was born, don't think she likes being constricted because she doesn't like swaddling either, she likes to move her arms around above her head while she sleeps
