Okay ladies, esteemed parents and mothers to those little blighters we call our loved ones already....I'm looking for some advice.

I don't want to use disposable nappies, I'd rather use re-usable ones, but I'm looking for some recommendations - can anyone help with any recommendations on ones they already use?

Cheers,
F :)

i have none - but suffice it to say i've already been looking up the re-usable ones one ebay and there's tons and great selection of prints etc :)

Glad you posted this, I've been thinking the same thing. Don't think DH likes the idea much but I'm the one who does the laundry! It might be a good idea to cross post this on the parenting forums. Let us know if you do so we can follow it too.

I used cloth diapers for my youngest and they worked very well. I bought mine from a Mom who worked from home sewing the diapers. Her website is
https://www.wigglewormbottoms.com/store/Default.asp.

She makes some really cute diapers. :)

If you head over to natural parenting and they are lots of review threads and girls with lots of advice.

Thanks Beachcomber, I'm in the UK though I'm afraid.

Thanks Lozzy, heading over for a looksy :)

Will do Lyvid :)

We use Kushies and are pretty happy with them. I hear that Fuzzy Buns (or something very close to that) are supposed to be good as well. I like the all in ones that are kind of like cloth disposables in style and haven't had any leakage problems. I barely had time for washing and stuff with the last one so things that need folding and extra pieces won't work for me. I expect to have less time now with a toddler.

I'm planning on using cloth diapers, and I've heard the best personal reviews for Bumgenius, so that's what I'm getting. I also plan on getting a few of the Flip (by the same makers as Bumgenius) because you can put a disposable insert in them, (the outside cover is the same as Bumgenius) which will be convenient for when I'm out and about and don't want to carry home dirty diapers.

I was thinking of using re usables and have been recommended tot bots, went to see them at the NEC baby show and they were really good, but as yet not quite decided.

We went to a 'real nappy event' last weekend and really liked the idea of the Smartipants Pocket Nappies.

This UK based website is pretty good for showing lots of different types and you can buy trial packs with three or more different makes of nappies.

I think we will do this first as I have heard a lot of them a re not so great for newborns and apparently it depends on the shape/size of your baby as to what will fit them better?! Might get some bio-degradable disposable ones for the first few weeks til we know what fits best.

Hope its of some help to you anyway. It does seem a bit of a minefield as there are so many types!

Thanks, that's really helpful hon, will take a look tonight :)

I used Bum Genius v3 with DD. I still have them and am planning to broaden my horizons this time and try some other types.

They are really helpful on the natural parenting board - it's the reason I joined this forum! Every time I googled a nappy, bnb appeared in the results lol.

I have used them since birth with my son and will be re-using them with my second. There are several different types and I recommend you do some reading to see which ones would work best for you. Something I did when I was first starting out is rent some for a month - our cloth diaper store rents them by the month and the great thing is that they include some of all the types which lets you see which style you like best and which ones fit your LO the best. It was really great for us!

We use bamboo or hemp fitted cloth with covers and they have worked amazingly well for us - even when he was tiny. We use wool wraps for naps and overnight. Deffo check out the natural parentiong section though - tons of info on there! xx

Came across this and though I'd post. Good for you in wanting to use cloth. I think it's important to do what we can for our Children's generation and cloth is one of those things. My advice:

The natural parenting section is great.
Buy/rent/borrow/buy preloved a couple of many different types. I did this and settled on a couple of types after a few months of use. If I had bought loads of my 'favorites' before my LO was born I am sure I would have given up as they weren't the best for him.
The terminology is double Dutch before they are born. As soon as you start using them it clicks into place.
Washing is easy. Do NOT be put off by anyone who says they are extra work. They are not.
I find them easier to put on a wriggly one year old than a disposable.

Go for it. It's worth it.
