I am a massive fan of coconut oil, it has many uses and another one u have found is for cradle cap.

Here's how for anyone who's LO has this :)

Scoop the stuff out the tub and it starts to melt at body temperature.

Rub generously all over scalp, and then put even more on :)

Leave for 5 minutes and then get a soft baby brush as gently brush at the scalp.

You will lift all the scales and flakes off, so do this to get the majority off.

Wash babys hair in the bath, and voila!

Obviously if it's not 100% gone, repeat the next day or in severe cases leave the oil on overnight and brush off in the morning.

Really hope this helps someone!

Feel free to share your own coconut oil use!!

I've done this a couple times and it has worked pretty well for DS. However, the cradle cap alway comes back in a week or two, though it seems less flakey each time. Hopefully it will be gone for good soon.

They get it from dry skin, try rubbing a bit of oil in your hand and gently rub it into his head after every bath and see? I use almond oil, works the same way. Oil lift up the skin and then we can brush it off.

Might try this!! Can you just buy it from boots? X

Most grocery stores or health food stores would have it. Many people use it for cooking. The fact that it has secondary properties is a benefit.

I use it mixed with beeswax to harden it and add tea tree and lavender essential oils as butt balm.

I've tried a few coconut oils both for skincare and culinary use, coconoil is a bit of a rip off IMHO texture, smell and taste wise it's not much different than the cheap KTC stuff. Retail price the biona stuff is similar to coconoil but its a far superior product. I got some coconoil as part of a bulk buy deal and I was sooooo disappointed as I was used to biona and similar even though it was only £5.50 for the massive organic tub. Skincare wise I found the KTC one to be perfectly adequate, it's not organic and is refined but doesn't contain any additives nor has it been obtained using chemical ingredients or processes. The only problem is as it is refined it goes off far more quickly, my tub started going mouldy after about six weeks being open xx

hi you can get it in boots for you£2.49 a jar and its 3 for 2 at minute.

Coconut oil is great for many other things. It's one of the top EFA's (essential fatty acids). Another one I like to use is hemp seed oil. It is a perfect balance of omega3 to omega6 (1:3) that you won't find with any other oils. I take a teaspoon-tablespoon daily. It benefits you inside and out. Other EFAs are flax seed oil, primrose oil, olive oil, black seed oil, etc. Although coconut oil works well for skin problems, the best oils thus far is hemp seed oil and black seed oil. They are both known to treat skin problems with great results. I had an itch down yonder from yeast infection. While I stuck plain yogurt inside me (the good bacteria in plain yogurt kills the bad ones inside the vagina), I lathered on hemp seed oil to alleviate the itchiness and how fast does it go away? IMMEDIATELY! It helped with the inflammation too.

You could also try mixing your preferred EFA oil with other EFA oil (with similar anti-bacterial, anti-fungal properties and skin healing prroperties). When lo had a bad, ruby red and bleeding diaper rash, I applied hemp seed oil+olive oil that has been mixed with Manuka honey. To 'wash' her bum, I made a solution of 8oz h2o to a teaspoon-tablespoon organic apple cider vinegar in a spray bottle and spray over, then pat dry. The smell will disappear on its own. It just further aids the skin to heal.

Sorry, its too long that I've typed. I get passionate sharing my natural remedies.

You can get a massive jar at the pharmacy at boots for a fiver. We lived it, it's what they use in nicu for preterm babies.

You can also use it for your hair-best treatment going! Also you can use it prior to bleach on your hair-don't wash it out-the bleach cuts through it but helps to limit damage

Avoiding baby shampoo with sls in helps cradle cap. When evangelina started getting excema i got fussy on what was in stuff and switched to sls free and found as a side effect cradle cap was greatly reduced.
