Hi Everyone!
I'm new to this site and this is my first time posting. I had two MCs in the last two years. Both were around week 6. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 19 (I'm 35 now) and was on birth control for many years. I haven't had trouble getting pregnant. The first time was a surprise (not trying, not preventing), and the second pregnancy we conceived after 1 month of trying.
I recently had a transvaginal ultrasound and the Dr. said my ovaries are still consistent with a PCOS diagnosis.
Now I'm not sure what my next step should be. My regular doctor says miscarriage is very common and my miscarriages are most likely not related to PCOS. But I'm not convinced. My husband and I want to start trying again but I'm afraid to start without having bloodwork done to figure out if hormone levels/insulin resistance could be the cause of my MCs. My periods are irregular, some 30 day cycles, some 35, some 40. The other problem is that we don't have insurance anymore. I'm researching trying to find plans that we can afford and all the information out there is dizzying.
So my question is, what questions should I ask my future gyn about PCOS? What can I be doing in the meantime to help my body balance itself?
Can a gyn help with my PCOS fertility issues or do I need to go to a fertility
specialist?
Ay help and advice you could give would be so greatly appreciated. I'm feeling so overwhelmed. Help please?
Thank you so much.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I stopped taking birth control pills in Jan. 2012 because we wanted to start a family, and I wasn't having regular cycles.. maybe once every 90 days or so. My regular doctor told me in September he thought it was PCOS and to lose some weight because that may help regulate my cycles. (I am too heavy by the books, so I do have some to lose.) I started eating a low carb diet, lost 20 pounds, and found out we were pregnant in October. Everything went fine. No problems. We lost our son at 39 weeks due to a cord condition that is rare and has nothing to do with PCOS. That was a little over a month ago. We are ready to try again; not to replace him but because we are ready to be parents.. SO here I am back on the low carb diet trying to drop these pounds! I have 7 to go til I'm back to where I was when I got pregnant. I've read a lot about PCOS on the internet and they do recommend a lower carb/low GI type diet due to insulin resistance. I don't know if that's an issue for you, but it helped me the first time. I pray it helps this time around, too. I'm not seeing a fertility specialist at this point, just my regular OB/GYN. If I'm not having cycles in a few months, she is going to give me Clomid to try to help with that. I don't know if a change in diet would be helpful for you as well or not.

I don't know what to suggest you ask because I'm not sure what to ask about it I guess. I am sorry that was such a long story, but that's my suggestion. Good luck with the insurance business, and all of the rest of it too. Hope you are able to have your baby soon!
