Hi ladies, hoping you could help. My partner received a tax repayment from HM Revenue & Customs. It states... If this document is presented to your bank or building society within 6 months, HM Revenue customs will pay: £***

My partner no longer has the account he used to be paid in for work, so does this effect where this cheque is being paid to?
It doesn't state on the check anywhere about his bank account.
So we we're wondering is it possible to do a joint account to my current account, and can it be paid into there after it's been set up?

Thanks.

I always thought that you could cash a cheque if you could prove your identity. So as long as you can proof its you, you can go to ANY bank and ask for the money in cash.

Haven't cashed a cheque for ages though...

ok thanks for the reply hun, appreciate it :) I thought so too, hopefully he can!

Any bank account in his name (or joint name) is fine

thanks ladies, going to town to sort it out tomorrow :)

DH has had a couple of these and we just pay it in like a normal cheque, think we put one in our joint account once which he wouldn't have had at the time the tax was overpaid.
