Me again lol!!!

Right!! i can feed Kaleb for 20 mins one side and he falls asleep so i give him good winding and he then screams for more and feeds for bout 10 mins on other side (sometimes) but still seems unsettled once he has been winded but usually mucks around on breast and plays with nipple....is generally quite unsettled atm

He had 5oz of aptamil lastnite and went sleep straightaway and went for 5 hours between feeds (he does this with some BM feeds) but then was unsettled after soem of my BF

My mum had him today and gave him just under 4oz of EBM and he was looking for more bigtime so after nappy change mum gave him 1nhalfoz more and he was so settled and then went over 4 hours between feeds again!!!

I am looking for advice or anything as to is he hungry??? Nipples r feeling a bit sore sometimes aswell Oh and im trying to express aswell which is awkward if feeding both sides :cry::cry: xxx

Looks like he is about 6 weeks, big growth spurt, so that is probably the reason for being unsettled. He may have gas as well, I remember it being a problem with Brenn. Tummy massage helps move it through.

Formula is harder for a baby to digest, hence the reason he could sleep longer. BM is made to be easy on the tummy.

Formula isn't necessarily "harder" for a baby to digest, it has more calories and it vitamin and mineral fortified and babies generally can drink more and get satisfied quikcer drinking from a bottle.

Babies have to work alot harder to breastfeed, with less of a reward, and breastmilk is more quickly digested. Which is why babies frequently feed more. Neither bf or formula is easier or harder on the tummy... ;)

I know the first 3 months for us were one big growth spurt... The more feeding you let your baby do in the day, the more he may be able to stock up for night. If giving a bottle of formula is working to give you a break and some sleep, and your baby isnt confused, go for it.

Also the more your baby feeds off you, the better your supply will be and the more efficient he will get.

Actually breastmilk is easier on the tummy, formula can be harder to digest..but it does take longer like Ryder said, breastmilk digests faster. It could be the 6wk growth spurt. When does he do this...is it in the evening time? Maybe it's because after the day of nursing your supply is lower in the evenings? I personally would keep nursing as much as you can instead of doing bottles so your supply can catch up

could you maybe put him on the breast as long as you can in the evening and then top up with a bottle? hopefully then your supply wont drop when being supplimented?

he has been unsettled for a couple of weeks..i gave him 5oz of BM in bottle and he went for 6 houers between feeds but keeps sicking up when i do feed him...im so ready to give up as i cant settle him im exhausted x

It sounds like he may be getting a bit of reflux. Keeping him upright alot and feeding little and often is whats recommended. I found once Jasmine wasnt feeding in the night it got better too.
