Hey. So tonight I made dinner in the oven 350 for a half hour and it wasn't until after we ate dinner I found my sons plastic toy in the drawer under the oven. It doesn't look melted and I didn't smell anything but I'm concerned about any toxins that may have been released during the baking process. I don't even know if that drawer gets warm I'm just assuming so and totally freaking out!

It depends on what kind of plastic it is. Look at the triangle on the bottom if you can read it. If it's PVC then hcl gas will have coated everything in the oven, other plastics may not be as toxic, ie polyethylene/polypropylene aren't as toxic. I doubt your toy was made of pvc but Google the plastic number to find out.

Heat your oven up before you do the next meal and make sure it doesn't still smell. You may need to find out how to clean it if you still smell plastic once heated again.

I think you'll be fine, kids my generation & older sucked on BPA plastics for years and we turned out generally ok:haha:

Good advice above. I just wanted to add that generally I don't think drawers underneath ovens get that hot - usually they are called "warmer drawers" - so I think you should be fine, especially considering the toy doesn't look melted and you didn't smell or taste anything at the time. How about heating up your oven again and checking how hot it gets in the draw below?
