Just got from my last appointment and we have decided to set up an Iui for this next cycle...questions since I know no one who has had one before! Answers appreciated to calm my anxiety!

1. Who gave you your trigger shot? Was it easy?

2. What happens if your ultrasound day or insemination day is on the weekend of holiday?

3. What's your story with Iui?

Hi waiting ☺ Didn't want to read and run. I have been there twice both times failed tho 😐 fingers crossed it will work for you. The trigger shot I gave my self they gave me a specific time and a needle etc to do it at home. If you haven't given yourself an injection before it can be a little daunting however it's a small price to pay for a baby 😉. If the clinic isn't open on the weekend they can trigger you earlier to ensure the insemination happens at the perfect time. Hope that gives you a little piece of mind xo

I tried IUI twice- first cycle was natural just following my body. Second cycle they had me on injections and stuff. Since I hate needles, I had my spouse give me my injections in my lower tummy area (before we did this, the clinic explained/walked us through the process so we knew what to do). Then when they did ultrasound and figured my eggs were ready, they had us do the trigger in my leg. I chose to do it at a specific time every night- it was around/about the same time every night when we did the injections. It was fairly easy to set up the injections and all. Not very much pain. However, the injections/hormones stuff did mess up my body for quite a few cycles after- even though I had only been on it for one cycle.

The holiday thing, that depends on the clinic- I've never done it before a holiday so can't answer that for you.

My story with IUI- already explained the basics in this. I have to use donor to get my baby- azoospermia is the cause of our inability to have a baby. I think I answered all your questions. Good luck!

Thanks so much girls! Trying to get my anxiety under control...so usually I ovulate on day 14. This will fall on Friday jan. 2. Usually I could go in on day 12 or 13 but that falls on New Year's Eve and day. My day 15 will be on a Saturday... I just feel like the days they are open I might miss my window...thoughts? Should I just plan on doing this the next cycle and hang onto my medicine?

If they're open on Saturday and do inseminations that day (which I know my clinic does- they do weekends by appointment if needed), then I wouldn't worry too much about it. However if they tend to not do anything on Saturdays/Sundays like a few clinics, then I would just wait til next cycle. But that's just me.

We also have to do our own trigger. I do the trigger 36 hours before the IUI so I do it at 10 pm, then go in for the IUI at 10 am two days later.

I take injections for the fertility meds so it is basically the same thing. DH does all my injections, he is used to it by now.

My clinic only closes on Christmas so we really don't run into that. My clinic does everything 7 days a week. I do know that they told people they could not do a medicated cycle if they thought that the person would O on a holiday.

I have had 4 IUIs. One was BFN, 2 BFPs, and one I am at 6dpo.

Don't count on your O being on the same day as you are used to, and on a medicated cycle things can move quicker.

One tip for you. If you are taking medication, watch your dose. I took climbed a couple times and still only had 1 follie. I moved to injections and hyperstimulated and ended up with like 20. If you hyper stimulate they cancel your cycle and the money you paid for meds is wasted. I am on Gonal F and only take about 100ui per day for 8 days, sometime I take less than that.

Well thanks everyone. The doctor cancelled my iui this cycle to crazy to fit in with holidays. Better luck next cycle

:hugs: Sorry to hear that but next cycle will be more exciting and less crazy so I think that was a smart choice.
