To do IUI or timed BD?
I'm freaking out over here haha!!

I've been agonising over this for a few days and today it's decision-making time! Ladies in the gonal-f thread have already been very helpful in making me feel at ease with the physical part of the procedure, but I'm not sure what's the chance it will actually work. Also, once we start with IUI, does that mean we only have 4-6 cycles with IUI? If so, I don't want to waste a half-assed cycle on one try (see below why I say it's half-assed).

Here is my situation: I have one follicle at 1.8cm, my lining is 0.8cm, but my estrogen is only 145. I'm concerned about the low estrogen and I wonder whether anyone has had any luck with low estrogen and relatively thin lining?
I know no one can make this decision for me, but I thought maybe your experience can help me decide.

thanks ladies!!!!

If I were you I would do timed bd, but then it is your decision. I only tried IUI once and my hubby has perfect sperm but I have PCOS and I remember that i had 4 good follicles and the doctor started warning me that if I proceed with the IUI I would have a high risk of multiples, but then I did the IUI and bfn.
My opinion is that IUI helps a lot when the sperms are not that good, but when the sperms are good it doesn't add a lot. So i advise you dont lose one IUI chance with only one follicle you can try timed bd this cycle, then if not successful move to IUI. In the end its your decision so good luck

I agree with Garfieldcat! I would try to do IUI with better/more follicles - but ultimately you have to decide. I'm sure the choice you make will be the right one for you. Good luck either way!

I would just like to share my OPINION but just because you only have one follicle doesn't mean you won't get pregnant from IUI. I have met plenty of women here on BNB that have become pregnant with one follicle. Besides that women without medication naturally only produce one follicle anyway and there are plenty of women out there that are able to get pregnant naturally. Also about IUI being beneficial if DH has bad swimmers isn't the only factor when doing IUI. The woman can have a narrow cervix, tilted cervix, or her cm can be to acidic which would all prevent the sperm getting to where it needs to be. So IUI is beneficial for more than just sperm factors. However, in response to mizuno I would do timed bd as well since your numbers appear to be low and choose IUI when your numbers have increased. Again ladies this is just my OPINION.

thanks for all your advice ladies! however, it came a bit too late :) We went ahead with IUI, mostly because I am a bit impatient and want to get pregnant as soon as possible and any increase in the odds, no matter how small, is good enough for me :)
