Need information/advice (long, sorry)

I've just been to the doctors re a non-ttc issue and came out an emotional wreck because he spent most of the time talking about our fertility issues (not that I mind how much interest he is taking in our problem). I'll just outline our situation before going on to my dilemma/confusion.

We've been trying for 22 months, with one confirmed m/c and one unconfirmed m/c. The unconfirmed m/c was over a year ago and I've had nothing since. My doctor referred me to the fertility clinic and everything came back ok. The consultant wasn't very nice and basically told me to go away. Because the NHS won't fund IVf treatment for me (my bmi is too low, and because I'm naturally very thin I cannot increase it to 19) we intended to wait another 6-8 months before going private.

Now my doctor thinks I should go to the private fertility clinic now for a consulation as he says there are drugs and things they can give me before it gets to IVF. He recommended Bourn Hall in Cambridge, although I had been thinking about going to Care as they have a better IVF success rate. So my questions are:
a) Do you think we should go the the private clinic now or wait for a bit?
b) Should we go with the one the doctor recommended or go to the one with the better IVF rate?

My gut reaction would be that there are other avenues before ivf, especially of your infertiliy is unexplained (which ours was). Depending on whethere there is male factor, iui may work for you and is significantly cheaper. If you want to go private, I would research the best results locally. Good luck x
