Need opinions please

OK, so, I've really stated liking Theon but if any of your are Game of Thrones fans you'll know he's a bit of an a$$. Would you name your child a name where a character in a book with the same name is an ass? We are avid readers here and named all our pets after characters in books. (Samoyed named Iorek, gsd cross named Brom, giant cat named Frodo, all our ferrets were Harry Potter characters)

Also, do you think Theon and Finn go well together?

I've also started liking Evie. I think Finn and Evie go well together. My dh has an aunt named Eva. I am worried his mom will get upset that it is sort of similar (not named after her, just a name I like) to her sister's name. Sort of jealous, maybe? Hopefully not but it's a worry.

I used to love Arya. I think it goes well with Finn too, but it's not quite love anymore.

I think it would be more about the fact that he's, uhh, missing some anatomy... that would deter me from using that name. I'm not sure school aged children will be that well-versed in GoT, but I would be afraid of potential teasing due to that.

Is Theon an actual name? I haven't researched it. If it was coined by George RR Martin and used as a name as a direct reference (like Khaleesi) then I would avoid it. But if it's an actual name and just so happens to be a character in the book/show (like Arya), it's not as much of a connection.

For me there's too much association with GoT, but if it's a name that's already been in use then it's not as big of a deal.

I've heard of ffion before. I've never read it so wouldn't know but I think if there's any chance school aged children would know about it I wouldn't use it otherwise fine x

Theon is a real name, it means "godly" and it's Greek. Not a fan of godly, but I do like the name. Hmmm.

I haven't gotten that far in the books yet (somehow can't find time to read with a toddler and a wahm business... ) but dh said Theon gets his fingers flayed. Not sure what happens on the show, haven't had much time to watch that lately either.

Oh... well, without getting into too much detail, things get pretty bad for poor Theon. But at the end of the day he is still just a character and as I said I'm not sure kids would have the knowledge necessary to use it as a means to tease.

We'll see how it goes. Dh isn't sold on it. Hopefully we'll find out the gender at Easter so then we'll know if we need a boy name or not. I'm kind of feeling boy...

We did consider Theo as it was my opa's name. We both like it but I don't know if we love it. It's definitely on the list.

Now for a middle name for Evie. I like Evie Drew but ds has 2 middle names so I would have to think of another. The name dh really likes is Molly Drew but I'm not loving Molly anymore. It can't be Evie Molly Drew so we have to come up with something else. Hmmmmm

If you're unsure about the association with the GoT character, maybe you could consider Theron? Very similar pronunciation, and a real but not common name (means Hunter in Greek).

I like Theon but I've never watched/read GOT so I can't really help with that!

I was going to suggest Theron but I saw a previous poster had already mentioned it, but I'll second the suggestion! It reminds me of Charlize Theron but I personally wouldn't say that was a negative association!

I'm not 100% of Theron yet. I'll have to think on it some more.
