Need reassurance

So at my 6 wk appointment, was told that I won't be seeing the OBGYN, but his NP instead. Not only that, I won't be able to try and see the heartbeat and the only thing she will be doing is a pap smear. Blood work will come afterwards, so I won't be finding anything out...at all. Not even my hormone levels, not my iron levels, NADDA. I've been super worried since finding out and would like some reassurance. I believe here in the states if it's your first pregnancy they only do appointments once a month during your first trimester, so they wouldn't see me again until July.

Is this normal for everyone else??
Just worried and want to make sure the baby is growing is doing okay

Not sure in the US hun but in the UK you don't even get bloods other than the tests for rubella etc at about 8 weeks. You just get a 12 week scan unless you have a history of mc or other issues. A lot of people here pay to get an earlier reassurance scan.

Keep in mind that more then 90% of pregnancies are totally fine. I know its not as comforting as 100%, but also remember that if, god forbid, something were to go wrong, there usually very little notice and your scans/bloodwork likely would not reveal much at this point. The reason they like to wait is because a later scan reveals much more info (right now, your little on is too, well, little to show much)

Just be sure to eat right, rest lots, and keep hydrated! In doing these things, you are doing everything in your power to be sure all is well. I know its hard to wait, but remember again, the majority of pregnancies produce lovely, healthy babies, and stressing yourself out at this point is not good for either of you. Have faith your little bean is growing steady!

Thanks ladies, it's just my first pregnancy and still spazzing out a bit. I appreciate your reassurance and need to learn to have more faith and patience. Wishing you both a h&h pregnancy
