Hi Girlies.

James had been going to sleep at 7.30 and the going through till 4.30 feed then down till 6ish, lovely. But the last week he's been waking at 2.30, 4.30 and then 6, whats going on with this 2.30 feed? Do you think he's not satisfied with my milk and getting too hungry?

Any ideas would be great,
Katie

Definitely sounds like a growth spurt. If he's still going to bed at 7.30 you could try dream feeding him when you go to bed so you get a bit more sleep before he wakes up again x

yeah i thought that it might be a growth spurt he put on 8oz last week. i'm sure hes got an inbuilt clock, its always the same time. lol. thanks for you help ladies. xx

i tried the dreamfeed before but he always used to wake up, I never found it made that big of a difference when I did it. Thanks for the idea though. xx

The thing is that my family keep saying that perhaps he isnt satisfied and that maybe i shoud think about supplimenting him with formula. But I really dont want to. Thanks for your answers. youve made me more confident to stick with it. Ive bought a medela swing b-pump, I thought if I could give him a bottle at 7ish and then top up at the end with boob he i can make sure he gets a good fill up. Coz he cluster feeds alot around that time and I worry he 'emptys' me a little bit so that when he has the last feed theres not much there. thanks again girls.

I'm not saying you shouldn't supplement but you should be aware that it does send the wrong messages to your body. It will think it's making enough milk and take it's foot off the gas so to speak where with cluster feeding and growth spurts, important messages are being sent to up the supply.

I found a mid evening bottle of EBM did give me a much needed break though. I got up early before she did to pump both sides and had 30mins to an hour to let my boobs filla bit ready for her first feed of the day.

Eventually she stopped cluster feeding and that EBM after her bath became the last feed of the day so over the course of a week I stopped it and got her back to direct BFing before bed :)
