Hi :flower:

I am currently on team :yellow: but have decided that if we have a girl i am going to name her Elizabeth after my nanna (who was very very special to me) who died when i was 8 weeks pregnant :(

Alot of people have asked me what i plan on calling LO and after telling them my name choice and why, i have had a few bad comments such as 'but that's such an old name' and 'why not call her something else' and 'put that as a middle name' or 'why not use a different version of the name' ....which i dont think would be as special tbh.

What do yous all think of the name? and do you think i should listen to these people or just follow my heart and use the name?

Thanks xx

Follow your heart. Elizabeth is a beautiful name!

I have been in the same situation as you. Parents being critical of name choices. I have had six kids and after the third we stopped telling people the names we were considering for our babies.

It's up to you. No matter what you call your baby your family and friends will accept it and they will learn to love her name.

I would say to use it if you love it & to honor your Grandma -- it's a very pretty, classic, timeless name. And there are so many nicknames she can choose to go by someday if she prefers. My fave is Libby!

My niece's middle name is Elizabeth, after her great-grandmother who passed (on her mother's side)

You'll never please everyone with any name you choose!

Good luck! Sorry about your Gram! :flower:

Oh no! Elizabeth is a great choice:thumbup: Classic and not over used like some names. I would much rather chose a pretty name with sentimental value than be one of the crowd going for the latest trendy name.

i think elizabeth is classically beautiful:flower: its also my mums name and you can have quite a few cutee NN to go with it as well.
i say go with your heart, stuff everyone else. xx

Absolutely follow your heart. Elizabeth is a wonderful name and I'm sure your grandmother would feel honored!

Thankyou everyone :flower:

I feel much better about it now hearing some positive comments and you're right i should just follow my heart and if anyone doesn't like it then that's their problem as it's my baby and i can choose it's name :)

I agree you have to follow your heart and also this will be something special between you and your daughter! My mum names me Jessica after her mum Jessie MAE and she got flack for not giving me a more ethnic name. But to this day I am so glad my mum named me Jess because one I am forever bound to such a wonderful woman who is no longer with us! And two my name does not boxme in... People don't make assumptions about me by my name as they do when hearing or reading my cousins name ect!
Now that I'm pregnant with a little girl she will be named after my mum as well and even though only a few people know the name I have heard one or two oppositions ( but you and DH are so much more funky and wild for that type of name) I say stuff em!
