Needing encouragement

Hello All,
I'm new to the forum, but am looking for some encouragement and am hoping I can find it here.

My hubs and I have been TTC for four years now. I have PCOS. Apparently I'm on the mild end of the PCOS scale, but I have extremely irregular periods and haven't been ovulating at all.

A few months ago we were going to adopt, but when the mom found out she was having twins (at 6 months pregnant, CRAZY!), she changed her mind. So we've been through a lot lately.

I am currently on month three of metformin. I ovulated the first month, but then didn't get AF on time.

Yesterday my doctor decided to prescribe Clomid. I'm so excited! I'm currently on day 14 of my cycle, so I have to wait to start it. If I don't ovulate this month I'm supposed to take progesterone to induce my next period so I can start the Clomid.

Anyway, all this to say, can anybody offer encouragement? Has this combination of meds worked for you? How long did it take?

hey were in the same boat
ive been ttc to for last couple of months and i have pcos and i was on metformin for two months and on progesterone to get my af i did that for 2 months nd started my clomid on 8/16 from cd 3- cd7 and now im just waiting
im on cd 11 maybe we can keep eachother company since were waiting together ? =)

I'm sorry you are having a rough time! I don't have PCOS, but I know 2 people who do, and their stories may help:

My little sis was diagnosed with PCOS so bad, her dr said her ovaries looked like "swiss cheese" and that she would prob never get PG, and if she DID, she wouldn't carry to term. She was so upset she wanted to get a hysterectomy but because she was in her mid-20s, she had a hard time finding a dr who would do it. Guess what? She got PG, and now has a 1-year-old. No meds, nothing.

My cousin is in her 2nd trimester. She started TTC a little under a year ago, wasn't getting anywhere, went to dr to check things out. Found out she is insulin resistant, was put on metformin, and 2 months later got her BFP!

I just started Clomid 50mg and part of my bloodwork came back and looks like I OV! Clomid is like a wonder drug; it really works!

You are on the right track; PCOS is not a death sentence.

Aww that's great I'm so happy for your sister and tha I you for the encouragement that really made me feel Better cuz I have not ovulated and I get tested on the 7th hopefully I do

That's great you ovaluted I really do hope you guys get your bfp after what you and ur husband been thought keep and you so positive which is great

The progesterone does wOrk it brings on at I had no had one for like little over a ear an when she gave me progesterone at came no problem I did cramp alot thought

Thanks for the response and the encouraging stories!
I actually got a positive ovulation test yesterday, the day after I posted! Really exciting as this is only the second positive opk I've ever had. Still a little frustrated though because I'm still spotting from AF.

Sophie2, I would love to keep each other company. I hear story after story of other people struggling, but don't know anybody else who is currently going through this (not that I really wish I did, I wouldn't wish this on anybody). Keep me updated on your journey!

I'm really hopeful this month though, and the hubby is too. He's usually really quiet about his feelings on it all, but has been more verbal this month.

I would love to hear any other success stories! Keep them coming!
