Nerdy baby names for boys or girls? We don't know what we;re having yet, but I'd like to start a list of nerdy names for our child. Ideas?

Hmm, nerdy how? Like a name that makes you picture the captain of the mathletes, or something sci-fi inspired?

My parents are Big Bang Theory fans. They suggested the names Sheldon and Leonard for a boy. My OH's first reaction was, "We're not trying to give our child a nerdy name." Other boy names along those lines are Alvin, Arnold, Milton, Norman, and Simon.

Some nerdy girl names: Alberta (nn Bertie, Berta, Bertha), Agnes, Gladys, Trudy

Are you a big bang theory fan? I dont think those names are specifically nerdy. I think the characters that use those names make them seem that way. You could have someone else entirely with those names who make you look at it differently. I think someone who is "nerdy" will make there name nerdy because that is who they are. Not sure you get nerdy names as such. I dunno maybe you do. good luck with whatever you decide x

Or you could look to famous scientists for inspiration: Darwin, Albert (Einsetein), Rosalind (Franklin), Hypatia, Ada (Lovelace), Vera (Rubin), Newton?

Or you could go more sci-fi, as someone said. I know a family with children named with astronomy-inspired names: Nebula, Galaxy, Pulsar, Andromeda.

I like someone's idea of going with scientist's names, and 'science/space' word names.

Wayne known a lot of Wayne and non that be close to being called nerdy lol

Dwayne on the other hand has a nerdy feel but that might be due to the Red Dwarf refernce

See i feel these names would be more suited to higher class people. People maybe with titles and alot of cash

I think nerdy is all how you look at it.

We chose Evelyn for our daughter, which I doubt most people would consider nerdy, but we got it from Evey from V For Vendetta and Evie from the Mummy movies. We know the origination of the choice, which is what matters to us.

Maybe look at what you and your partner are interested in and research some of the names from it?
