Tomorrow is the day I go in for my second u/s. The first showed an empty sac but the dr. was hopeful because it was still so early. Then, as if that isn't enough pressure, I got a call today saying that I failed the one hour glucose test and have to go in for the three hour test first thing in the morning. I can't wait for tomorrow to be done and this anxiety gone.

Has anyone here had problems with the first glucose test?

Did not want to read and run, wanted to send you hugs for tomorrow and really hope you get to see a little hb :hugs:

Many people fail the 1 hr glucose test. It isn't a controlled test and it is easy to have problems passing it. The 3 hr test is controlled i.e. fasting, and thus the results are much more reliable in the first place. I had to take the 3 hr twice this pregnancy: 1 early because I failed the 1 hr and my sister has PCOS and diabetes because of it and one at the regular time around 24-26 weeks. I passed them both.

:hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs: Wishing you much love and luck, try to stay positive..

I failed the 1st test also, but passed the 3 hr test. Have you been eatting sweets? I was addicted to fudge during that pg, and I didnt know that could alter the results  Like someone said already, the 3 hr one is controlled, where you have to fast before. I was told just having jam on your toast in the morning can make you fail the test,.. not sure how true that is but goes to tell you, try not to worry.

How many weeks were you when the u/s showed an empty sac? I had that also, (Im on pg#9 and went through alot), I was told the pg wasn't viable, I left there in tears, but they were wrong!!! I also had an early u/s where they could see the yolk sac, fetal pole, but no heartbeat when apparently there should have been by then. That turned out to be yet another healthy baby! Early u/s's are so scarry, when alot of ppl think it's going to give them confirmation, and they could stop worrying, sometimes it just gives false info. I've heard alot of ppl getting bad news from an early u/s and end up having normal healthy pg's.

Thanks everyone for the kindness.

Well I thought that I was about six weeks, but because I have PCOS and very irregular periods, I could not be sure. I went in yesterday, and we have a baby and a heart beat!!! I am just now measuring 6w 4d.

I had convinced myself that I would be ok either way, and I would just accept that the outcome was meant to be, but... When she said 'we have a baby' I was so excited and relieved. This pregnancy is totally unexpected and planned, but I guess I've become attached to the idea of having another even at this late stage in the game.

The three hour- what misery. I hope I pass it, but just in case I don't, I am starting to lower carbs today... now more than 45 gr per meal. Plus if I do that and daily exercise, I won't gain back all the weight i've lost in the past couple of years.

Yay on the heartbeat. So glad you were just too early the last time and that pressure is off your shoulders!

Good luck with the 3 hour results!
