there are many pain reliefs you can have during birth hun, i'm scared too i feel like i'm going to be in so much pain it's unbeliveable where i'm such a drama queen too i don't think it will help, the nerves come and go for me because i am also excited about finally seeing my little man :D x

I definitely feel very nervous, just because it's unknown to me, I don't know what to expect or how i'm going to deal with it. I just try & focus on the excitement of meeting my LO for the first time :) I just think that i'll deal with the pain when I get to it :haha: try not to worry too much :hugs: x

Don't go by other peoples birth stories you can't tell what yours will be like. I actually thought mine was brilliant. If you find you're not coping very well there is pain relief and don't feel like a failure for having it, there is also things like having a bath or using a TENS machine, they really do help especially if you want to stay at home for as long as possible. You will find that you build it up in your head to be soo much worse than it is and when you're actually in labour you just deal with it just take it as it comes and try and relax, I know that's easier said than done but honestly if you're relaxed you will cope better. I know that's probably not much help.

I'm agreeing with the above poster it really helped me! My labour was pretty good too. It was painful but not unbearable pain. I only took pethedine, which is a relaxer not painkiller and i was able to cope with the pain.

I think some of it is to do with fear of pain and the unknown. I read up alot on this subject and had convinced myself it wouldn't be as bad as everyone makes it out to be and i was fine.

I was mostly nervous about people seeing my 'lady parts', but honestly once baby was coming out i didn't care.

btw, some people have short labours, my waters had already broken when i woke at 6am, contractions started at 7pm same day, went hospital at 10pm, baby was born three hours later at 1am.

good luck :flower:

Labour was not half as bad as I thought it would be and I only had gas and air, I was induced too which is meant to make labour come on extremely strong and you get pretty much contraction after contraction with no break and I've always thought I'm a huge wimp! I actually enjoyed giving birth, it's a lovely experience bringing a baby into the world. I can't wait to do it again either so if I'm saying that... it really can't be that bad hun, trust me you'll be fine and you can have as much pain relief as you like :flower:

^ Agreed. I was terrified about labour, I built it up in my head to be awful. But when it came around to it, it wasn't AS bad. Yeah it was hard, painful at times and uncomfortable, but when you're actually there, in labour, you just cope with it. Just keep your mind on your LO, and how amazing its going to be. It's always frightening thinking about labour, just remember it's 100% natural. Women were built to give birth :) labour is nothing you can't handle.

And think of it this way. I had my daughter just over a year ago - and I'm pregnant again, by choice! :haha: I wouldn't be doing it a second time so close together if it was THAT bad.

Look into pain options, have an idea of what you might want. Think about your birth plan, what you would like and what if things go wrong. Be prepared for everything, and go into it with your eyes open. You will be fine :) and after it's all done you will have your LO in your arms, and it is 100% worth it, every mum will tell you that!

Thanks Ladies:)

Thats True It Cant Be That Bad If Us Women Go On And Have Another Baby x

Would You Recommed Getting A Tens Machine Because Want to Try And Not Have An Epidural If I Can Get Away With It x

i've hired one just so that I have it incase I want to use it :) i'm trying to avoid an epidural as well. I hired mine from www.mama-tens.info and they post them out when you're 37 weeks. it's £30ish and that's for up to 6 weeks hire x

I used mine for about 38 hours, I took it off for the last 2 hours because my back ached but I think it really did help. At the beginning of labour I put it on and after a couple of hours I thought labour had actually stopped so took it off and then the contractions came back. So for me it was very good and I would recommend it. There are probably ones that are just as good or better but I got this one

I know that when I was having contractions last week and got sent to the hospital it really hurt and they gave me pain killers to stop the contractions and it was awesome haha. I think that when I go through labor I'll be having an epidural and I'm not ashamed. My pain was unbearable and that wasn't as bad as it usually is so I was told. But people have different pain tolerances and I have a low one but anyone women has a right to take pain meds if they want to during labor.

Thanks Everyone... Im Going To Get A tens Machine Tommorrow xx

Worrying about it is only going to make things worse :hugs:

Cross that bridge when you come to it, you know it's going to happen and everyone's experiences are different so why get worked up? I'm not at all worried because I don't see there as being anything to worry about right now if you get me. When labour kicks in, then I'll worry. I think as a mother you just adapt and deal with what's in front of you so I've been told. You'll definately come out the other end I promise :D

I No Im Getting Myself Worked Up Too Much And Probably Not Good For Baby Stressing This Much! xx:)

You've just got to try and be as relaxed as possible about it. The more worked up and anxious you are the worse experience you're going to have. I'm quite calm about labour tbh. Its something i've got to do and women have been doing it for centuries. You just gotta tell yourself you can do it and be confident..xx

A lot of people have told me to go in expecting the worse, just so that you aren't surprised when it does hurt, because it obviously will, but it wont be the worst pain in the world.

My plan is to go into the labor and delivery room expecting the worse pain I can imagine and remembering that it wont last forever, hopefully that works, lol.
