Sorry for the long post ahead...

We had a mmc in May last year after years of TTC. With that one, by the time we got to my GYN and had an ultrasound, hcg was measuring 8 weeks, but the baby only measured 5 -6 weeks with no heartbeat.

To our joy and surprise we had a BFP about 4 weeks ago, and went for our first u/s and hcg on the 16th. They measured the sac as 5w 2d (exactly how far I should have been), and could see a fetal pole with no heartbeat (which made sense, so early) and the hcg was good at 4965. It increased to 11045 at 5w 5d with doubling time of 57 hours. My GYN schedule me for a second u/s which we had yesterday.

Unfortunately, while the u/s tech was very nice, she was an intern (and no one supervised her or checked her work), and this wasn't an OB office, just an imaging center at a hospital. The tech told us she doesn't do many early OB scans. She was able to show us the heartbeat! :) We were thrilled, thrilled! But she had trouble measuring the CRL, she came up with 7w 0d for the CRL (she didn't measure the sac) with a heartbeat of 108 - 114. The 7w 0d doesn't make sense to me, and I'm not sure she measured that well.

My DH is thrilled just to have a heartbeat, but I am scared by the 7w 0d because when I looked online, and found that if you are 7w or older the heartbeat should be at least 120. Although I also found that between 6-7 weeks it should be 90 - 110, and since that is what I am sure I am, part of me wants to believe everything is ok.

We don't know with the mmc if the heart was ever beating, or if it was slow and stopped beating. I'm really scared this is happening again. I also haven't and any nausea, and with the mmc my GYN and her nurse implied that was a bad sign.

I know I just need to wait for my GYN to get back to me after she reads the radiologist's report, but I was wondering if any of you have had similar experiences with heartbeat and what the outcomes were?

at a guess I say her measurements were off, how are you now I hope all is ok :hugs:

I had a MMC two years ago and I was nervous wth this pregnancy and had a scan two weeks ago and everything is good.

Well you seen a HB should be a good thing right?

I will b having a second scan when I am 12 weeks few days on 1st April.

Hopefully for the next scan the result should be better than last one and hopefully u get different tech to measure the baby. But still you was shown a HB which is a great and it's main thing I am sure. Hugs xxx

Just wanted to say that I hope for the best for you. We've been through it and know how stressful it is. What is meant to happen will happen. I had two losses that I mourned until the day my daughter was born. You will get your little bundle of joy eventually. Unfortunately some of us have to wait a bit! Crossing my fingers for you! :)

I've read over and over that once you see a good hb your mc rate go's way down, it's encouraging to me since I also had a mmc, the first time I went I measured 2 weeks behind with no hb, though later I went and baby was still measuring weeks behind but with a hb but it was a very slow hb so it wasn't at all what I would consider a strong hb...I go for my scan next Friday, I'm praying all gos well, Im sure your bean is just fine ;)
