Nevaeh (girl) - thoughts please, be brutally honest.

I'm in Canada and I really dislike it, agree with most others that it's tacky. I don't know anyone with the name personally but it just rubs me wrong.

I think its a pretty name and only know one little girl with the name. Im in the US though. I don't see how it's tacky. Or gimmicky. It's a name, and if you love it, use it!

To me, it sceams chavs, white trailer trash, drugs, poverty, crime, tackiness, regardless of how you spell it. But if you like it, by all means go for it.

This is the most ridiculous thing I have read.. Oh Jesus.. If you don't like it that is one thing BUT crime , poverty, drugs, white trailer trash? .
OP, if you like it, use it.. It does not sound like all those things ^^^ that poster posted... :flower:

Thank you, I did think that was an extreme opinion. Overall it seems to be well received. However my husband thinks it sounds like a Southern Asia name similar to Pria etc. I have no issue with that but wonder if people would expect us to have Indian family, similar to if we used an Irish name maybe people would expect us to be of Irish decent.....

Do you think that matters? I did point out to my husband that most 'English' names are of Hebrew decent due to the use of biblical names.

Why is this so hard!! This is our second baby girl so I guess that's why it's harder the second time around. I keep finding that all the names I like sound too similar to my 1st daughters.....

I dislike it - as others have said I find it tacky and cant stand the 'backwards' thing

the pronunciation is to harsh to me to the 'veya' bit just makes me think of words like conveyer which aren't very pretty

Nivea (ni-vee-a) although a brand at least is a real and exotic name/word and the 'vee' as opposed to 'vay' sounds much softer to me

I also know a little Neve and shes really cute

can you give us a hint to you other child's name?

I don't think it sounds that way at all, I wouldn't expect you to have Indian family if I saw/heard that name.

I think it's def harder the more you have of one gender. I have one boy and four girls, I love one boys name and no girls names.

I liked Nivea but would never go for it because of the cream. Lol

It's funny how different people like the different sounds my favorite bit is the 'vay' bit. I liked 'Avaya' that was suggested.

My first baby girl is called 'Leyna'. (Pronounce Lay-nah). If anyone is a fan of Billy Joel you may recognise it. I really like Alana but think it's a bit too close. My husband loves Olivia but I'd rather steer clear of the top 10 popular names, although I do agree it's very pretty.

Neve, Naya, Nevaya, Alaanah, Alaia, are all lovely alternatives and sound sound nice with Leyna (which is really lovely btw)

I don't like it in the slightest. I find it extremely tacky.

I don't think it matters with the descent of a name. I would never expect a family to have Indian descent if I heard the name Neveah. Pria, possibly, but who cares? People make names up all the time. No one seems to like the name we picked out for our little girl, but that's their problem not mine.

I'm not in the UK, I'm in the US. It's popular where I live (I hear it ALL the time and have met about 3) but being brutally honest, it is mostly used in places that are considered "ghetto" here. It's considered very tacky. I honestly don't like it at all.

Sorry I don't like it, I really dislike the whole heaven spelled backwards thing. I've heard it once and they were a 'chavvy' family.

Other suggestions after reading your other daughters name:

Maya, Amara, Lilliana, Savannah, Dara, Cara, Cora

Those are pretty thank you. We came up Lilly this evening which we quite like, Lilliana is a good one too.

I'd like to suggest Linnea too. You could also spell it Lineya, or Lyneya. It has Scandinavian origin, and rhymes with Neveya. I like it much better :)

I like it, but would never use it x

I have to be honest: it's a pretty name BUT I'm a teacher and it's one of those names that people have a hard time pronouncing. Emphasis on wrong letters etc. I would hate to give my kid a name that was going to be pronounced wrong lol

That's very pretty. Thank you.
