Hello there :flower:

I have just found out I am pregnant! Probably around 5 weeks. I am 40 and have an 8 year old son. However, around 5 years ago I had a problem pregnancy that ended with a termination. The baby had encephaly, which I found out at 14 weeks during a private scan (the NHS 12 weeks scan was delayed but I knew there was problem [instinct] so went private). It was a very sad time for us all and the events are burned onto my memory

Anyway, I am utterly excited about being pregnant now. At my age! But I am also very worried as this wasn't planned and I haven't been taking the heavy duty folic acid tablets I would have been had I been trying. I do have some from a few years ago so am taking them now in hope.

But I have an appointment with my GP tomorrow and will show him my info from last time so that I can be rushed through for early scans.

I don't know, I just hope that all goes well this time as I am so excited and upbeat as its just so... unexpected! Does lightening strike twice? No one can answer I know, but I feel very anxious.

Nice to be new here...

I am pregnant again after losing my son to a birth defect, so I know exactly what you are feeling. All we can do is take good care of our bodies and try not to stress too much and hope for the best this time....I hope everything works out for you this time around.

Thank you for your kind words :flower:

Well I saw my GP - we are new to the area so it was my first time to see him. He was wonderfully supportive and friendly. He told me not to worry too much and that just because I'd had problems before did in no way mean it would happen again. He was pretty strong on that point. Which was reassuring.

I am due to see a consultant soon. Waiting for my appointment to come through. He told me a week ago it would be in 2 weeks so thinking the letter should arrive any day now with an appointment time. I will ring on Friday if I've not heard anything.
