New Baby after Neonatal Loss-

Anyone been refused a side room after the birth? My m/w has requested it for me on my notes but was wondering if anyone had been turned down and if so for what reasons? Thanks xxxxx

hi hun can i ask why shes requested this?

i dont have any advise but i do know my hospital only has a side room which is attached to the neo-natal unit and a birthing room for those like myself who loss a baby and have to give birth try and make it more homely for familys. all other birthing rooms have no side rooms and the wards are all shared rooms. x

Hi hun, shes requested it as Im likely to be staying in a couple of days, and couldnt cope in a bay with new mums and babys Obviously if there are no rooms available or hospital says no, I wont have a choice in the matter.

I think there are 6 of these private rooms, the rest are bays which 4 mums share. I said i was happy to pay but she said i shouldnt have to??

Hi Lora,

I got ill with pre eclampsia when I was pregnant with Kaysie, and the put me in the ward with all the new mummy's (well I was in antenatal but there was no beds left in postnatal so was surrounded by new babies), I really couldnt cope and after 24 hours I went a bit mad. They moved me to a side room. Then when Kaysie was born I went to the high dependency unit for 6 hours and then went to a side room, they dont usually do that after a c section, they like all c section mum's to be in one ward, but they knew my circumstances so it was allowed.

i dont see why they cant give you a private room then hun if your m/w reccommend it. hopefully they will let you have one. i agree in that you shouldnt have to pay. i was quite lucky in the fact when i had my first daughter there was only 2 other mums and babies in the same room and my 2nd daughter i was on my own for the first night and the 2nd night another mum and baby came in.
